Facebook, twitter, bebo. Should they be banned?
Social networks can be defined as a website base for people to create a public or semi-public profile. A social network forces on building social relationships between people who share similar interests/hobbies. Social networks can cause a lot of problems and some people have different opinions on them being banned.
There have been many concerns put forward by people of the older generation and particular the media about the dangers of social networking. This includes harassment, bullying, inappropriate photos being share and can lead to people committing suicide. Six out of ten people have admitted that they have had abuse/nasty comments about them on Facebook. Personally I think that they should be banned because of the dangers. Also if it is banned then it will reduce grooming over the internet and will be a lot safer for children to browse over the web.
On the internet nobody knows who you are, where you live, how old you are and this is one of the most common reasons why some people started believing that social networks should be banned. Perhaps, it’s the sense of isolation that causes people to believe that they should be banned. On the other hand people may be objecting to the false sense of being connected through social networks such as Facebook. Do you really have friends if they are only in cyberspace?
People become addicted to social networking and can often stay up to early times in the morning. Scientists say that ‘getting rid of cyber life can improve actual life’. This will improve people’s health and also will improve their communication with others in ‘real life’

Too much attention is given to our desire to never be alone with our own thoughts in this day and age. This in turn leads people to have no sense of self unless it is somehow justified through our social interactions. Social networking sites allow you to connect with old friends from high school, family that lives far away, in my case, even in another country as missionaries, friends down the street, coworkers, and just about anyone else you can think of.
