What Was Your Initial Purpose To This Story
1. What was your initial repose to this story? Like it? Hate it?

- My initial response to the story was the fact that I liked it. I thought that it had the feel of a Fable or a Fairy Tale having this flow made reading the story more enjoyable and very rhythmic in my head.

2. How do you interpret Donald's story about Pete hitting his stitches? Was Pete trying to get rid of Donald? What could his reason have been?

- I interpret Donald's story about Pete hitting his stitches as just an older brother picking on a it happens all the time especially when parents make a big deal out of it, I honestly do not believe that Pete was trying to get rid of Donald it is just Donald messing with him.

3. Towards the end of the story, on page 338, both Pete and Donald get out of the car. In paragraph 260, Pete "dropped to one knee, searching the packed dirt with his hands. He didn't know what he was looking for, his hands would know when they found it." How do you interpret this scene? What is Pete looking for?

- I honestly am confused by this question the only way that I can think of answering is that Pete was done being judged by Donald and that he was considering on maybe throwing something at Donald maybe out of frustration since he said

It was either learn to play football with my cousins and brother or play barbies all by myself. However I cannot really make any connection with this story in the terms of having a sibling rivalry. I have one older brother we never really fought and kind basically stayed out of each others way most of the time. My brother had his friends I had my friends and when we were at home we would basically just be in our separate rooms the whole time unless we needed something from the other or it was time to eat. It is not like we never spent time together we did but we just knew how to co-exists without bothering one

Thinking that maybe there was a problem, Roy and Johnny pulled their gear back out and turned back toward the house in case they were needed after all. In the chaos that followed the group rushed toward the pool house to check on the wife of the man who’d initially sent the two paramedics packing. The group pushed ahead of the two men who could offer the most help if the woman had in fact ingested some pills. The family pushed each other and the two men as they all herded around the edge of the pool. Roy had not so graciously been shoved to the left and lost his footing on the slippery side of the pool. He unceremoniously took a splash along with the drug box. Johnny had eventually made it into the fray only to find out the lady had taken a bottle of aspirin and agreed to seek advice from her personal physician. Johnny fished the drug box from the water and offered his hand to his partner, but Roy hadn’t wanted or needed his help. In a normal situation this would be a call that would be joked about and a great deal of teasing would have followed. After the past week of unrest between the two friends, the situation only seemed to add fuel to the already smoldering…

John may not intentionally lie, but since he constantly lies it comes naturally to him. From the beginning of Wilsons first marriage to Polly, Polly’s family figures out what kind of man Wilson really is. Polly never caught on to Johns lying, “Polly’s family noticed Jack’s [John’s] tendency to lie when it suited his purposes, but Polly seemed oblivious to it” (8). Polly never realized that he constantly lied to her. Wilson left his family in Scotland, because he had stolen from his family. Polly was celebrating her sixth wedding anniversary without seeing her husband.…

Whenever I saw his face, I couldn’t help but think of Peter’s face at the same time. Both faces have appeared too much in my dreams for it to not be easy to see the way they both narrow their eyes, knit their eyebrows together, and stick their chin up in a superior way whenever they told themselves that they despised me. When I wasn’t in Battle School there was always something Peter did, every…

Louie later described his ordeals through a single, well thought sentence, “”If I knew I had to go through those experiences again,’ he finally said, ‘I’d kill myself’” (328). Even though his struggles during the war had left it’s mark, coming home wasn’t any easier and caused his wit to soon leave him in a drunken and abusive state. Later Louie redeems himself and his cleverness soon returns to him. In Louie’s later years Pete recognizes that his brother’s cleverness still served him just as well by telling a few onlookers, “‘Why the h*** are you trying to help him?’” (392).…

For the first time in my entire life I was understanding in a new level what was happening in the book. I was playing the scenes out in my head and actually enjoying the read. I saw the horse running through the fields, big and muscular. I imagined a below average size boy taming and training the ginormous creature. It all finally came together. I was overjoyed at the end of the book and I was ready for another exhilarating read. After this it took me a while to find another book that could match up to the previous one. But after a while I found a few more books that gave me the same exciting…

Just entering high school I was finally starting to become actually close to my brother. He is five years older than I am, so we were just starting to transition from the sibling-rivalry stage to the civilized relationship that a brother and sister develop when they realize that no matter what family will always be there until the very end. Our conversations had just started to expand from “nice face, loser” to “hey, you want to catch a bite to eat?” That was not the only impact that my brother had on who I was and what I was to base this life on for the rest of my being.…
