Nowadays, teacher plays an important role in student’s life. We can clearly see it in the school where a good teacher will definitely produce a good student. As the saying goes, “A good teacher inspires”. Other than that, there’re a lot of roles that a good teacher should plays in student’s life.
A good teacher takes the role as a parent in school as he/she is the one who will guide and mould the character and personality of the students. In fact, teacher plays the role as a disciplinarian and a friend to the students. Here the teacher is approachable and acts as a good listener and practise patience and tolerance when dealing with the students.
Another role is that the teacher needs to become a motivator to their students. In the school, teacher can always give motivation to their student such as giving them encouragement and praises and this will boost their confidence. This gives students stratification that their contributions are recognized and is an important motivational force. By consistently giving feedback (about their progress as well as their performance in classroom activities), students who experience success and praise will participate actively in learning activities. Thus, this will make the students become more successful in their studies.
A good teacher acts as a role model so that the students will follow his/her footsteps. Here the teacher must ensure his/her integrity, punctuality, physical and mental at all costs in order to be respected and loved by the students and thus creating an ideal environment for learning.
A good teacher not only helps in academic growth but also in physical, emotional and spiritual growth of the students as stated in the Education Philosophy. Last but not least a good teacher’s role is to groom and produce students who are knowledgeable, skilful, productive and become successful in their life.
In a nutshell, there are a lot of roles that a good teacher should plays in student’s life. It’s up to the teacher to choose their role to ensure that their student will be successful in their life.
