Alcatraz was a place for the worst criminals during Prohibition.
Prohibition caused the stop production of alcohol. This lead to people illegally making and selling alcohol to people who wanted it. Although after a while it had to close.
Alcatraz needed the super security to hold super criminals.
The prison was different from other prisons because it held the worst criminals there was. The prison was different from other prisons because normal prisons don't have that much security, but Alcatraz had so much security they wanted no one to escape.
