What Is Your Perspective Essay
Perspective Essay

Being a perfectionist affects me in my shop, academic classes, and at home. Almost everything I do has to be neat, clean and perfect. When a job needs to be done, I don’t only do half of it first and do the rest later. I have to finish it right then and there. While this may be a good thing, sometimes it can be annoying. From the perspective of a boy who is a perfectionist, it is hard to feel accomplished.
Being a perfectionist is a very good attribute in the precision machining field. You have to work with tight tolerances in order to make the part useable. Thankfully, I am good at doing this, but, if I messed something up and had to start over, I would mentally bully myself to do better. It’s not the fact that it may take

I have to keep my shop neat and tidy at all times, which isn’t easy since I work on my dirt bikes in there. All of my tools need to be organized and put back where they came from before I can start another project. Sometimes, it sets me back and I end up being rushed to get things done, which isn’t fun for anybody. I spend a lot of time cleaning my bikes, too, which is almost as expensive as it is time consuming.
One thing that doesn’t affect me is my academic classes. I expect myself to be a straight A student. Fortunately, this is easy for me to do because I am a good learner. When I don’t meet my personal standards, I force myself to study. Although, if I get a B on my report card, I don’t view it as a big issue. I think this because it is better than most other students’ grades. To me, my shop is more important than academic classes.
All in all, being a perfectionist isn’t as simple as what most people expect it to be. It has its positives, like doing naturally well in school, but it also has its negatives too, like feeling frustrated if the person did something wrong. I like being a perfectionist. It will help me be successful later on in life. I think it is a good idea for everybody to try to be a perfectionist, so everybody tries to do the best they

As shown in "The Author to Her Book" by Anne Bradstreet, perfectionism is not a new phenomenon. Bradstreet uses diction, imagery, and tone to display her insecurities about, and dislike of, her own work, resulting from the human imperfections that have created an inadequate piece of literature.…

    2. English Reformation: Henry VIII had greater political control over England after the Act of Supremacy in 1534. The monarch was now the head of the English church. This lays the foundation of the nation-state as one national gov’t became more in charge of national affairs. After Henry VIII dissolved the monasteries, the monarchy had even greater control of English land. This was the biggest land transfer in Eng. history.…

The essay entitled, Perfectionism was an inspiring piece, discussing that of which haunts all writers: perfect writing. The over all though of perfectionism seemed to be that it was a curse but one that could be over come. Perfectionism seemed to focus more on acceptance of mistakes, and enjoying the process instead of forcing a perfect product. Lamott's Shitty First Drafts, to me seemed more focused on a subtopic of perfectionism. Letting the urge to write carry you, type whatever it is the story demands of you then... simply fix it up later.…

I am an achiever. There is almost nothing more important to me than having a strong work ethic, not only in a work environment, but also finding a way to include it in my everyday life. I strongly believe that hard work pays off, and there isn’t anything I am not capable of doing as long as I give it my best. First off, my first job was working at a small Italian restaurant when I was only fifteen years old, and I could only keep the job at that age if I got a waiver from my school counselor showing that I was still doing well in my studies. I did my best to manage going to high school, playing soccer, and still finding the energy to show up to work in the evenings. It wasn’t easy, but it gave me a sense of accomplishment at a young age. I remember having to work the overnight shift doing inventory at my second job during my senior year, and still somehow I found the energy to study and make it to school on time. Secondly, I started working at a restaurant equipment store after high school, having been given the title of “receptionist”, only to find out that the job would include much more than just the general office duties that usually come along with this type of position. Not only was I responsible for completing my work that came along with the job, but also to be a personal assistant to the every need of the business owner. At one point I even found myself taking his mother home from an unexpected trip to the emergency room after a routine check-up. My boss and her other children were unfortunately too busy, and I felt responsible for making sure that she had someone there for her. One last example of being an achiever is my dedication and punctuality when it comes to having a job. I do not believe in…

Unquestionably, my limiting style that is working against me and reduces my overall effectiveness stems from my yearning to be a perfectionist and to complete a task to the highest standard. Through implying such a method, I feel that I have subconsciously worked to limit my professional effectiveness in organizations and have not be able to develop as quickly as I’d like as I am constantly held back by tasks which need to be completed and sent out in a quick and specific time frame rather than something that is slow and tenuous in nature.…

Have you ever tried to be so perfect at something and it ended up going all wrong? I have. In the essay “So What’s So Bad About Being So-So?” by Lisa Wilson Strick (205-207) she makes the point that being perfect doesn’t always turn out the way you hope. I completely concur with her. Perfection can often be a wonderful thing, but for me, perfection caused me to have a very low confidence and so it became a vice in my life.…

Throughout my whole life and all of the activities that I am involved in, perfectionism always comes into play. Whether it’s my schoolwork or volleyball, I struggle with this on a daily basis. It’s a blessing because it makes me work harder for what I want but also a curse because it can be very stressful and hurt my confidence. I am beginning to find a way to let it benefit me more than hurt me and I am so glad that I have finally been able to do that. Working hard, spending hours on homework making sure everything is done to its best.…
