What Is Your Passion Essay

Everyone has some passion or goal that they dedicate their time to. For some people, it is a sport, career, or art. One of my passions is music. I play the euphonium in the band, and I plan on playing for all four years of high school. Being in the band is something that I always enjoy and I like to look for any opportunities that I can take to improve my playing and band experience. Most of the time, these opportunities are correcting my mistakes and applying Mr. Soto's comments to my playing so that I can do my part to make the band sound great. Other times, these opportunities are helping out around the band room or helping my fellow musicians recognize their mistakes and improve their playing. One of my jobs as a member of the band is to fulfill my band obligations. These include going to rehearsal, attending lessons, and arriving to all of our performances. I always show up on time to band rehearsals, and I try to set up as quick as possible so that I can warm up together with the band. Band rehearsals are probably the most important part of our preparation as a band and I treat it this way, trying my hardest and taking the music seriously. Practicing is necessary for anyone to succeed at their passion. Whether it's at home or in school, I make time to practice my instrument and make my part sound as good as it can. Because I enjoy making music, taking this extra time in my own isn't a burden to me. Instead, it is a very fun experience and I always enjoy seeing this extra time result in improvement. One of my most memorable band experiences was performing at the tree lighting in Glen Head. This performance required some extra practice and I had to use my own time to prepare for it.
