Before chapter five opens Victor has spent two years – ‘Winter, spring and summer past away’ - collecting body parts and building the body ‘like a hurricane’. This tells us that he was making the monster uncontrollably and he had no sleep and no food which also shows us that he worked really fast. This tells us that he put a lot of effort and determination into making his monster perfect and explains why Victor got frustrated and eventually ran away from the monster. He was obsessed with making new life and worked in ‘secret’ and ‘silence’. He didn’t contact his family during this time.…

I cannot describe the change between the connection between mother and Victor. Before he used to bond with mother by going on short strolls, helping with little things like dusting, grocery shopping. When Victor used to get ill, mother would leave work and help in all needs. She would dash to the Pharmacy to retrieve the best medicine possible. But when his own mother is in need of this he just would not help.…

    * Victor earns disregard and disdain through his insufferable egotism and unprincipled and reckless judgement. Time and time again, he fails to take responsibility for his own actions, ushering in destruction as a consequence of personal inadequacy. Victor believes that he is the true murderer, he even says, "I beheld those I loved spend vain sorrow upon the graves of William and Justine, the first hapless victims to my unhallowed arts." I think this statement is not entirely true. Victor's intentions were not the pursuit of evil, although he should have though through what he was about to do. It is true that the murders never would have been committed if Victor never created the monster, but it is not that simple. Victor had no way of knowing the monster would kill; in fact, he doesn't know that the monster has killed. I don't think that there is a yes or no answer to this question. Victor cannot be blamed for a murder he did not commit, but he cannot be entirely innocent when he unknowingly…

To no surprise, most everyone would say that, of course, Victor’s creation is a monster, and at times, he seems like nothing but that. But at other times, the creation is quite the contrary. In the beginning, the creation just wants acceptance, and he has known nothing but exile since his heart began beating. The creation asks Victor to create him a companion in the same way that Victor created him. This request shows us that he wants love and friendship like everyone does. Victor begins, and then abruptly stops and destroys his work in progress. The…

His first mistake was his decision to bring a terrifyingly ugly monster to life with much surprise to himself. He spent several years trying to bring it to life and then Victor spends the rest of his life regretting it. We find out that the creature is alive when Victor says, “when, by the glimmer of the half-extinguished light, I saw the dull yellow eye of the creature open; it breathed hard, and a convulsive motion agitated its limbs.(40)” He doesn’t want anyone to know what he has done even though he knows that keeping the monster is not good. The monster ends up killing Victor’s wife, best friend, and his youngest brother. The monster also accidentally kills Victor’s father and 2 other people. Victor is so upset because he feels guilty, responsible and unsure of what to do…

Victor is a prime example of a character who's managed to continually reach both moral highs and lows within the confines of a short novel. As a child, he doesn't face any notable challenges which force him to make life altering decisions. It isn't until he's older and is fully incorporated into the world of science that he faces challenges which determine the likes of his humanity.…

It is proved that his mental state is unbalanced when he states, “My internal being was in a state of insurrection and turmoil” (Shelley 36). As his mental health becomes unstable, he then becomes obsessed with science, making it his highest priority, even above his own health and family. Victor then suddenly became consumed with the concept of creating life artificially, and of the elixir of life. Although Victor does succeed in his dream of creating life, he is soon horrified at the sight of what he has created. He is not proud of the Creature, but disgusted at the sight of it, stating, “the beauty of the dream had vanished, and breathless horror and disgust filled my heart” (Shelley 57) Victor abandons his creation and leaving it to fend for itself, indirectly causing the murders of loved ones on account of his own shallowness, selfishness, vanity, and disregard of moral…

The devil never did ended up show up during his wedding, but during his honeymoon. When Victor told his wife, Elizabeth, to go to bed for the night while he stayed up for little bit longer, the devil snuck in and killed Elizabeth. The devil had killed everyone Victor was close to, except for his father, who did eventually die from natural causes. If Victor had not crushed the devil’s dream, then the devil would have not killed the people who Victor…
