What Is The Theme Of The Poem To This Day
To This Day is a poem by Shane Koyczan about bullying and the long term consequences of it with different individuals. One case of symbolism is that he either had to fall to the bottom of the cliff or climb an enormous mountain. Plunging down a cliff could mean giving up and not persevering throughout life, and scaling a mountain could mean being untiring and persevering. The cliff means hopelessness because it would seem impossible to do what he is going through. The author put this in the video and the poem because it helps you comprehend how the character is feeling and what he is going through. During the video, at 3 minutes and 35 seconds, there is a scene where there is a man standing on the ledge of a towering cliff, which he then fall

The poem is about a farmer who ploughs up a mouse's nest. He apologizes to the tiny creature while telling it that he means no harm. He also says he does not mind that the mouse occasionally steals an ear of corn. After all, the farmer reaps a lot of food from the land; surely, he cannot take what little food the mouse has away from him. Finally, he tells the mouse that it is not alone in failing to build wisely for the future; men fail at that too.…

Is it possible for a single theme to exist in the past and still live today? This question is easily answered through a movie of the past and a story of the present. In 1930, All Quiet on the Western Front was released to the public. The film was based on Erich Maria Remarque’s novel, directed by Lewis Milestone, and produced by Carl Laemmle Jr. (“All Quiet on the Western Front (1930 film)”). The present day story was written on www.usatoday.com on November 8, 2012, and is entitled: “On Veterans Day, a vet’s suicide haunts those left behind (Raasch).” Despite the time period difference and the type of media, both share the common theme of sorrow. The film and story have numerous similarities that express the theme by using events, processes, feelings, and emotions. Sorrow has stayed consistent throughout the past and present and has proved itself to be a timeless theme.…

When the mother is talking to her son she explains to him that life isn’t easy and that he should be prepared for the obstacles up ahead. For example, it is stated that the mother tells her son that, “Don’t you fall now-” “For I’se still goin’, honey” (17-18). This demonstrates that the mother wants her boy to understand that life isn’t always going to be a piece of cake but stairs with endless obstacles. Furthermore, the author is trying to give the idea of how life is a blocked pathway and we need to find a way to get around that pathway. Another example is when the mother is getting her boy to understand that even if he, “finds it’s kinder hard” (16), he needs to keep on going. This proves that the mother wants to put the idea in her son’s head that life isn’t a clear path and it comes with a great deal of boulders in the way. Moreover, this shows that the mother just wants her son to be prepared for the life ahead because once he enters the real world he will experience obstacles off far. As a result, when the mom is talking to her son she wants to give him the message that of how he should be mindful of life because of how life isn’t always easy.…

In the poem “To This Day” by Shane Koyczan he shows that people that get bullied constantly aren’t able to blow stuff off as easy as others. In the poem he shows that some people need motivation and help. He shows this by stating in the poem,”We are not abandoned cars stalled out… and if in some way we are don’t worry we only got out to walk and get gas”. Gas could symbolize getting help from someone they know and trust, or could be trying to get help with therapy or things of that nature. Another meaning could be that they need to get motivation to keep going from something. The dark background colors could mean that they need better things to happen to get motivation from.…
