To Kill a Mockingbird Setting
To Kill a Mockingbird, written by Harper Lee, takes place in the south in a tiny village called Maycomb County. Because the novel was published 1960, it is safe to assume the time period is before this year. Based on various sources, the time period of this story is in the early 1930s. Specifically, 1933 to 1935. (To Kill a Mockingbird: Historical Context.) Slavery seems to have ended however there is still discrimination between the whites and the colored. During these years, the Great Depression was occurring too, causing many individuals to be unemployed. As mentioned in the novel, farmers were poor which then lead to professional workers, such as a lawyer like Atticus, becoming poor as well. The Dewey Decimal
