Throughout the book, lucy is faced by her mom and grandma telling her to mind her business and that she can't save the pharmacy. Lucy didn't listen to her grandma and mom after she was told to just give up.Towards the end of the book Lucy is faced with listening to what her mom is telling her to do or doing what she believes in.At the end of the book, for example, Lucy is faced with just accept with her mom and grandma said or try harder to prove to them that they are wrong. Lucy shouts to Grandma, “Selling the store is such a stupid idea! Then what are you gonna so with yourselves all day ? You’ll end up like Nicole Grey's mother, who's totally depressed because she has nothing to do! I'm yelling, and i want to stop, but I can't . I feel like nothing I do will convince them, none of my ideas will work. I wish i didn't care about this stuff, but I do”(Greenwald 226). This shows that even if someone has forces that are putting them down, that there is always a solution. The reason I say this is because the events in this book could totally happen to anyone in real life. At the end of the book, Lucy shows how one business closed right nextdoor. For example, at the very end of the book Greenwald writes, “Eli Mayner owned the video store next door to the pharmacy for many, many years, but the store closed down last year, since pretty much rents their DVDs online now. He still owns the building, though, and that's why we’re trying to make a deal with him. It was sad when the store closed business. He bought a Web site that offers cheaper ways to rent cars and hire movers and even buy plane tickets. Grandma says he’s doing very well.”(257)In others words, this shows that even their next door neighbor had to deal with foreclosure which didn't turn out so bad for him. Also I rate this book a 8.5 because the way the Greenwald writes the book is so easy to read and at the same time so much is going on and the reader can really see how actors are really feeling. Also the way she makes her character like a real person and doesn't act like a fictional character. For instance, when Greenwald wrote, ”Mom! I'm not going to say it again. Thay woman ruined my hair! I don't care about a refund. Homecoming is tonight. Tonight! Do you know what that means?....Under Courtney's baseball cap isa mop of frizzed-out thick, tangled strawberry-blonde hair.
