A Psychological Thriller: M. Night Shyamalan’s The Sixth Sense
The Sixth Sense was written by a man called M Night Shyamalan in the nineties. The film's genre is part thriller, part love story, and part horror. We start to receive hints that the film is going to be above its category at the very beginning of the film because the music is very eerie and intriguing to the audience. The Sixth Sense, you didn't know what to expect. You would guess it was a good scary horror flick. The purpose of this movie was far greater than just trying to scare the audience. This movie showed not only the emotions of fear, but also faith, commitment, sadness of loss, and love. The ability of extra-sensory

The director was careful with the way red was used in the movie and it was largely left out of the movie except for certain important objects in master scenes. The utilization of red in the film was to supply cues to the audience about the destiny of Dr. Malcom Crowe after he is shot in the opening scenes. The red objects implied things that had been disturbed by the dead in the other universe. Examples include the door of the church where Cole seeks sanctuary; the color of the balloon, carpet, and Cole's sweater at the birthday party; the tent in which he first encounters Kyra; the volume numbers on Crowe's tape recorder; the doorknob on the locked basement door where Malcolm's office is located; The shirt that Anna wore at the restaurant; Kyra's mother's dress at the wake; and the shawl wrapped around the sleeping Anna when Malcolm realizes he is a …show more content…
The Sixth Sense is an extraordinary movie. This movie reflects on some difficult subjects that will make the viewer walk away asking questions. Maybe I read too much into this film, but I think it will be difficult to find a movie that has touched on these subjects as much as this one has. Shyamalan has careful thought into every aspect of the production of this movie, getting the most out of the storyline and maintaining a spooky feeling through the

The color red was used in the film to emphasize certain aspects of Lola's life. The red accents the rushed plotline, the love between Lola and Manni, and the blood of them both. In the beginning, the call to Lola is answered on a red phone which shows its urgency and stresses the red throughout the movie. Lola's fiery red hair highlights her speed, as she nearly runs through the entire movie. There are scenes where Lola and Manni are together and are seemingly illuminating red light, which exhibits their passion. In the…

One of the scariest movie scenes I have ever seen was in a movie called “The Sixth Sense”. The main actor is a young boy who sees dead people. In one scene, in particular, you can see him in his room at night lying on his bed. You can notice the room getting colder and you notice that there’s something strange going on even if we cannot see it. You watch him running into a special place in his room filled with religious images and saints. All of a sudden you see him turn and a dead person is just in front of him. When I saw this scene with my family I screamed so hard I got a sore…

In the chapter, The Red Candle, the author explains everything in detail. She explains about the red columns in front of the house for decoration, the red dragons, the red wedding dress with the red wedding veil, the red banners, the red palanquin, and finally the red candle. I found this as a motif because it appeared in almost every section of the 3rd chapter. Ying-Ying also explains that her mother gave her a necklace made out of red jade. Red was a traditional color in Chinese culture, possibly a powerful color, as purple was to Europe.…
