If The Titanic hit the berg but survived, I think it would be a wake-up call. Icebergs weren’t treated as being especially dangerous to large liners. If Titanic were damaged and say, her first four compartments were flooded, which was the worst she could take and still float, I think the threat might be taken more seriously. If Titanic never encounters ice at all, nothing changes at all, and ships continue to navigate the same way they always have. Eventually, some other ocean liner, while traveling at high speed at night in an area known to contain ice, would strike an iceberg and sink with an appalling loss of life. Her captain altered course southwards after getting the news about Titanic and still sighted ice, even though they were a full degree of latitude, further south than Titanic was when they passed the ice field.
