China is going through a tough problem with having a shortage of water. They are in a severe drought and with having no water, it is causing many different problems. China only has one main river that is dangerously polluted and can’t be used for the large population or for industry. There are three main causes of China’s water scarcity crisis, industry, pollution, and population. Of these, the biggest driver is population. One reason for China’s water shortage is the industry. The larger the industry grows, the smaller amount of water there would be to go around. For example, over 30% of power used in North China uses water ( Document D ). In addition, in 2015, industry alone used almost 200 billion cubic meters of water ( Document C ). Industry helps explain China’s water shortage because a developing industry requires a high demand of water, they use most of China’s little amount of water.
