Anthropologic climate change in Chile and Argentina has been a vital problem since the turn of the 19th century. With a steady rise in temperature, climate change has had a significant effect on this region’s culture, economy, and social structure. Without the necessary precautions, this effect will only continue to increase at an exponential rate, causing further irreparable damage and degradation (Barros, 2014). There are many causes of anthropologic climate change in Chile and Argentina, but perhaps the largest contribution to emissions of carbon and greenhouse gasses comes from factories lacking the proper carbon taxes. These large factories are slowly degrading the environment and leading to a host of problems affecting the people of Argentina and Chile. Climate change in the area will lead to decreased precipitation, increased temperature, increased flooding and sea level rise, and acidification of nearby costal waters. These problems are predicted to reach epidemic levels by the year 2100, making the land unusable for agriculture (Burton, 2003).
