What Is Teamwork In Healthcare
Employing Teams Currently I work for the University of Mississippi Medical Center, the state of Mississippi only academic health science center. The mission of the Medical Center is to improve the lives of Mississippians by educating tomorrow’s health care professionals, by conducting health sciences research, and by providing cutting edge health care. Teamwork play a major role in living out the mission of the Medical Center. With more than 10,000 employees, UMMC is one of the largest employers in the state of Mississippi.

Health care overall every day is becoming more complex. As the health care is becoming more complexed this forces the health care professionals to attempt various services and learn new methods with the latest technology. Being a part of an effective team help to make this process an easier transition. As the American population and other populations across the country continue to age, there tend to be an increase in chronic disease that force medical health care professionals to take a completely different approach that is multidisciplinary to healthcare in their day to day jobs. Working together as a team rather it be in a clinic, emergency room, surgery, labor and delivery, wherever it may be in a healthcare facility, it help to reduce errors and also play a role in increasing the safety of patients. The safety of patient is a top priority at my organization. The entire team is responsible for the health of the patient. In the changing arena of healthcare it’s not just the physician that is responsible it’s the entire team of healthcare professionals that are responsible for the wellbeing of the patient. Teamwork overall is centered around communication. No matter what team a person is affiliated with, communication is the key to it being an effective …show more content…
Teamwork that is efficient and effective is beneficial to the organization, the patient, and the healthcare workers. When a team is effective in the healthcare system, everyone job is made easier and the workplace becomes a more productive and enjoyable work environment. Being a part of a productive team of healthcare professionals can allow two things in the organization. Safety issues are reduced and the retention rates could go up. Teamwork overall is important to patient treatment, care and safety. Effective teamwork rarely happens where there is no collaboration.
