What is Solar energy and its Advantages?
Solar Energy In 1839 Alexander Edmond Becquerel discovered the photovoltaic effect which explains how electricity can be generated from sunlight. He claimed that an electrode submerged in a conductive solution would create an electric current. ‘However even after much research and development subsequent to the discovery, photovoltaic power continued to be very inefficient a solar cell were used mainly for the purposes of measuring light. Solar energy is radiant light and heat from the sun harnessed using a range of every of ever-evolving technologies such as solar heating, solar photovoltaics, solar electricity, solar architecture and artificial photo synthesis. Solar technologies are broadly characterized as either passive solar an active solar depending on the way they capture, convert and distribute solar energy. Active solar techniques include orienting a thermal mass or light dispersing property, and designing spaces that naturally circulate.
How do we get electricity from solar panels, talk about solar powered cars The suns light ( and all light) contains energy, usually , when light hits an object the energy turns into heat, like the warmth you feel while sitting in the sun. But when light hits
Certain materials the energy turns into an electrical current instead, which we can then harness for power. Solar panels turn energy from the sun’s rays directly into useful energy that can be used in homes and businesses. There are two main types: solar thermal and photovoltaic, or PV. Solar thermal panels use the sun’s energy to heat water that can be used in washing and heating. PV panels use the photovoltaic effect to turn the sun’s energy directly into electricity, which can supplement or replace a building’s usual supply. Solar cars can accomplish this through photovoltaic cells. PVC are the components in solar paneling that convert the suns energy to electricity that flow generates the

Active solar heating is a system of putting the sun's energy to use in which collectors absorb solar energy and pumps or fans distribute the collected heat. This functions in the manner that heat absorbed by a solar collector is transferred to a fluid inside the panel, which is then pumped to the heat exchanger, where the heat is transferred to water that will be stored in the hot water tank.…

Despite what any individual’s concerns are regarding energy, it has been generally accepted that the finite source generating the majority of our electricity is depleting at alarming rates. We need to find alternative sources for energy production. The most obvious and abundant source available is the sun. Advances in technology have enabled us to harvest the solar radiation which has been conducting the cycle of life for millions of years. There are two main categories when it comes to solar power, passive and active. The passive solar systems integrate the sun’s energy to heat living spaces and/or water in a building. These system are very simple consisting few moving parts, require negligible maintenance and no mechanical components (Passive Solar Design). Passive…

Solar energy is one of the most widely used energy resources throughout the world solar energy is the most promising renewable energy resources. It is widely available and easy for any one to use it is practical for individual use to power a single home or for a company facility such as bright sources solar facility in the Mojave Desert California. The facility can produce up to 377 megawatt. It uses three towers with mirrors surrounded by solar panels to reflect the light on to the solar panels to harness the suns energy. The benefits of solar much more out weigh the negatives solar can save billions of trillions of dollars for nations. The reliability of solar energy is great rising and setting of the sun is consistent while cloudy days are less predictable there are more than enough sunny days to power homes. “She…

For many years, solar energy has been the economic choice for use in many industries where power is required at remote locations without government subsidy, as the vast majority of systems used require little electrical power. Solar energy is frequently used to power transportation signals. For example, offshore navigation buoys, lighthouses, and at an increasing rate traffic warning signals are using solar power due to its power saving efficiency. Solar power’s greatest benefit here is that it is highly reliable and requires little maintenance so it is ideal to use in places that are hard to access.…

To gain a better understanding of how Solar Panels can be useful for our homes lets take a min to understand how they work based on research done by the David H. Koch Fund of Science in 2013. Solar panels capture sunlight and convert it into electricity using Photovoltaic (PV) cells; these cells can power anything from calculators to cars. The bulk of the cells are made up of two layers of silicone and where they meet is where the key action takes place. The cells also have metal strips that conduct the flow of electrons through wires in the house where it powers electrical devices. The Electrons in the cell also flow back out of the house and return to the cell through metal backing in order to make a closed circuit. Finally, the cells have antireflective coating that ensures that the particles of sunlight needed to generate solar power are absorbed by the silicone layers and not reflected away.…

What is solar Photovoltaic (PV)? A solar cell is a photovoltaic cell, which comes from photo (light) and voltaic (electricity). It is made of a material called a semiconductor, one commonly used is silicon. The basic structure of a PV cell is demonstrated in Figure 1. This semiconductor absorbs the light when struck, and bump electrons loose, making them flow freely. The PV cells have a current that makes the electrons flow into metal contacts (Aldous, 2009).…

There are three main ways to collect solar power. The first two are called passive system and active system. These use the sun 's energy to heat up an object which can be transferred to another object or an empty space. An active system 's power can even be turned into electricity. An even better way to get electricity from the sun is achieved by panels called photovoltaic cells. The sunlight is directly converted into electricity by the panels and can run almost anything, sunlight providing. These three different techniques show us that there can be many different ways to acquire power other than the conventional and hazardous methods we use today. Passive heating, thermal energy, and photovoltaics give the world many different ways to reap the benefits of solar power.…
