What Is Racism In America

America today as we know it is the land of opportunity and freedom. Yet racism is a big issue in America, as we know the whites are more privileged than the rest, that suffer from stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination. As a Latino who lives in America, I have many experiences where I have been the target of racism. There is this one experience that I will never forget. My father is a hardworking busy person, he usually puts in from about 50-65 hours a week of work, which leaves him with no time at all to spend with his family and bond with me. The officer approaches our vehicle, me and my dad questioned each other what was his motive as no law was broken. The cop speaks to my father and asks for his license and registration, then another officer comes up to my window and asks me for my id I asked why did he need when it was a normal traffic stop or was it? Here is where I came to the conclusion that it was more than a traffic stop it was an act of harassment because they saw two Latino males in a nice car. I question the officer what was his reason for pulling us over, and he can only start to sweat as I started to ask questions about their motives, his answer was that his partner would tell us. We are then asked to step out of the vehicle by the officer speaking with my father, and I continue to ask what law was broken? No answer at all, he walks away to his vehicle. As we are left alone me and my father knew that this was a case of racism, the officers approaches us again and tells us that the owner of vehicle was on a list of owner with no license, and that the windshield was cracked so he had to make sure we were aware of
