What is Courage?
Dear Local Government, “The bravest thing you can do when you are not brave is to profess courage and act accordingly,” Corra Harris once said. What sets courageous people apart from cowards is fortitude. Having the will to go out and face difficulties and diffuse them with passion and strength is true courage. Everyday people can possess courage. It can be shown through different careers, facing your fears, and your actions. Courage is needed in many careers. People in the military have courage for putting themselves in danger in order to keep the rest of us safe. Foe many people, risking or giving one’s life for others is probably the highest example of courage. They are extremely brave and as a result, are very well respected. The men and women in the army put their trust in each other. They have to rely on one another in order to stay alive. That takes courage because they might not even know the person and they trust him or her with their life. It also takes courage to be in the military because everyday is a surprise. They don’t know what will happen. Another career that one needs to have courage in is being a leader. Whether they are the president or CEO of a company, they both possess courage in order to do their jobs. Being a leader means they’re under a lot of pressure. If the company messes up or makes a mistake they have to stand up and take the blame for the entire company. Their decisions can make-or-break their career. It takes courage and strength to handle the power that comes with the job. Facing your fears can be one of the hardest ways one can show courage. Many have objects or things that they fear. For example, a large population of people fear sharks. However, people learn to face that. They won’t stay away from the beach forever, and surfers won’t quit surfing.
