What Is College For By William Deresiewicz
In the penultimate paragraph of “What Is College For?” by William Deresiewicz, he claims that “the classroom is the grain of salt; it’s up to you to make the pearl.” After reading and analyzing this claim, I reached to the conclusion of its meaning and my take on it.
In my opinion, Deresiewicz’s statement means that, in the end, the responsibility of using the knowledge we gain in the classroom is ours. College provides students several concepts, ideas, among other things. However, that information might become meaningless if we do not put it into use in our daily lives. As Deresiewicz pointed out with Lewis Lapham experience, it is possible to do so, it is just a matter of attitude. By doing this, we would be making the most of our college
