What Is Chris Mccandless Journey In Into The Wild
Into the Wild is a film by Sean Penn that talks about the journey Chris decided to take, leaving behind his parents and his dreams. He graduated from Emory University as a top student/athlete only to decide he was tired of everything and decided to embark in a journey into the Alaskan wilderness. Shaun Callarman states,”I think that Chris McCandless was bright and ignorant at the same time. He had no common sense, and he had no business going into Alaska with his Romantic silliness”. We only have a short amount of time to live before we grow old and die. Humankind is always trying to find new ways to live longer but most of the time they spend most of their time looking for it and never experience life. You should not worry about how many years you have lived, but on how many great years you had. Chris was no idiot he knew what he was getting into, but he still did it. We all do some things that others find strange or weird, but that's the beauty in life, not one person is the same. You might be sad that he died in the bus, but can't deny that he was happy to get to Alaska and live in the wild. “It is easy, when you are young, to believe what you desire is no less than what you deserve, to assume that if you want something bad enough, It is your god given right to have it”(Jon Krakauer). In conclusion, Chris was not an idiot or selfish by leaving everything behind to live in the wild.
