What Is Blondie's Career
The Career of Blondie:
Still Dreaming 40 Years Later When people think of music in the 1970’s many minds go right to disco and jazz. While they were certainly popular during the decade another genre was popular during that time as well, new wave music. Bands such as The B-52’s and The Human League produced hits that combined elements of rock, pop, and punk music. One of the more notable bands from this time period was the punk rock band Blondie, who just recently announced their eleventh studio album Pollinator, almost forty years after the release of their first self-titled album Blondie.

The band, originally named Angel and the Snake, was founded in 1974 by lead vocalist Debbie Harry and guitarist Chris Stein, who were both previously

Parallel Lines also went platinum in the US and UK as well as quadruple platinum in Canada.
The group’s most successful hit “Call Me” was recorded as part of the soundtrack for American Gigolo. The song hit number one in both the US and Canada and was even nominated for a Grammy. “Call Me” remains the bands most successful single to date.
The band continued to succeed with two more albums that both went platinum status Eat to the Beat and Autoamerican in 1979 and 1980 respectively, however trouble was brewing under the surface for the group. In addition to a less than impressive album release entitled Hunter and disastrous world tour the band was also dealing with issues involving drug use by multiple members and an illness. Additional tension was caused by an apparent focus by the media on Harry as opposed to the other band

This included a sold-out world tour in 2008 to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the release of Parallel Lines. They released two albums in 2003 and 2011 entitled Curse of Blondie and Panic of Girls. Both of these albums received mixed reviews and failed to reach the same popularity as the albums released before the break up.
In 2014 Ghosts of Download was released, almost forty years after the release of their first album. This album was released alongside Blondie 4(0) Ever which featured re-recordings of some of the band’s biggest singles from their four-decade long career.
However, that wasn’t the end of the road for the band. Just recently Stein and Harry announced that they will be releasing their eleventh studio album in May of 2017. The album entitled Pollinator is a collaboration with a variety of musical stars as both writers and featured vocalists. Including a song written by Sia and a song featuring another rock legend, Joan
