What if we can do telepathy?
Once having seen X-men, people would be strongly impressed by professor X’s supernatural ability of telepathy. Some people told us that they would do anything and take whatever result just to own such power. But when it comes to one of us having that telepathy, we would rather not use it.
First of all, using telepathy on people around you, especially your beloved ones can destroy your social relations since you are able to read their minds, opinions. Imagine when you can read someone’s mind, you can also see what they don’t really like, even hate about you that they keep for themselves. After seeing that, your attitude towards them will change, such as your behavior would become ceremonious. The situation gets worse if you saw people’s secrets. What would happen if you couldn’t hold yourself and tell someone about that secret? The one who will be hurt is both of you and the relationship between you two will be badly damaged.
Another downside of telepathy is that you can foresee other people' plans. Although this is good from security’s point of view but to your emotional life, telepathy does you more harm than good. Suppose your friends want to make a surprise birthday party for you, but you saw it all thanks to your ability, and then you came to it with no surprise, your real behavior would upset everyone. And the same thing would go for all other surprise things in your life and spoil your relationships.
Bringing that special ability to the workplace, it would make you feel frustrated in your work since you are capable of reading your superior’s mind. If you handed in a project, and you read in his mind that he thought it was bad, you would probably give up. But in case what he really meant that the project was bad now and it needed more improvements, you would lose an opportunity to prove yourself as you had given up already.
Finally, when people found out about your special ability, most of them would distance themselves from the unusual one, which is you. Some people could have a discriminatory look against you because people have a natural tendency of being scared of the unknown. You will face a life with isolation more than social communication, lacking in everyday transactions…
To sum up, although telepathy has its pros and cons, the downsides are still superior and that’s why we choose not to use it.

My second most dominant Spiritual Gift is Exhortation. This means that I like to encourage people, work wel with others as well as one-on-one and have a “get it done” attitude. I agree with this Spiritual Gift for many reasons. As I was reading the analysis it talked about how I need to be careful not to interrupt others. It was very ironic to read as I tend to jump into conversations while others are speaking because I am excited about the topic. There was one part that I disagreed with. It said that I am very “serious-minded, orderly and able to explain how to apply God’s word.” I feel that these are area’s I am weak in and need to work on.…

Sometimes I feel as though I’m more in stage 1 the Unreflective Thinker. Although I think, I’m unaware of how my thinking is structured or how to asses and improve it. At times when I experience problems in thinking, I feel as though I lack the skills to identify and fix the problems. Take my job for example, when dealing with irate customers I take a step back and look at it from their perspective; however, I feel as though I lack the confidence to help the customers fix their problems. There are also times when it’s busy and short drivers, I have to come up with a decision that requires me to think things through before making a final decision. Since I am a dispatcher, it is up to me to ensure the drivers arrive at their destination within twenty minutes and ensure all drivers get their turn at running calls.…

Everyone has something about them that makes them unique, whether it’s not wanting to step on the cracks while walking because you’re scared you may break your mothers back or not eating green things because well their gross; we all do things others might consider weird. Mine is giggling! Being the younger of two older brothers I never really got to say much, so I would sit in the stroller and just watch and giggle because they would always do silly things. As my brothers got on rides I wasn’t tall enough to get on at Disney I would wait crying because I felt excluded but after they got off the ride and walked up to me the tears stopped and the giggle started. Everyone knew my giggle growing up, my mom used to say she could…

Everything is available on the internet including education, television, games, and social networking sites such as “Facebook”. Instant communication allows one to converse with whomever all from the comfort of your own space. It requires less effort than meeting with the person face to face, which in my opinion, is not a particularly positive mechanism. It allows for miscommunication to occur because you can not distinguish the true emotion or intention of the message unless you hear the tone of voice. Instead of wasting time on sites such as Facebook or instant messaging, it is much more self fulfilling to go for a scenic walk or spend time alone away from distractions. In order to encourage deep reflective thinking, it is a consummate to clear the mind of negative thoughts and focus on oneself.…

The article “Masking Poor Communication” discussed how miscommunication is misunderstood and perceived as something. What someone is saying can easily be taken for something else. Everyone has their own perception. This can have a negative impact on the people who are close to you. In the article it stated that “people commonly believe that they communicate better with close friends than strangers. This closeness can lead people to overestimate how well they communicate, a phenomenon we term the closeness- communication bias”( Keysar, 2011). Just because someone is close to you doesn‘t mean they know what you mean every time you say something. The moral of this article for me was, just because you know a person doesn’t mean they can read your mind. People change everyday, so how can you think you know what’s on a person’s mind?…
