What I Learned In Nursing Class

I technically “finished” high school and now I’m taking a vocational nursing class. In my practical nursing class, I’ve learned many skills and techniques, but not only to use in the clinical setting, but in my daily life. As a matter of fact, I believe I learned more about myself while in this class than I learned in my whole life. For instance, I learned that I am a huge procrastinator. This class has taught me how to prioritize and problem solve. For example, I know I have a huge test coming up and homecoming happens to be right around the corner. So, what do I do? I could go get my groove on at homecoming and evidently fail may nursing test; or I could sit home, be a nerd, and lose out on my last high school homecoming dance. But wait, hold on, what about option three? Option three is that I first, take pictures of the chapter so I could study while doing my hair and nails, then I actually complete my work before the actual due date, and final enjoy myself at homecoming, worry free. It is important to remember that, my former self wouldn’t have been able to see the gray area I just created; I would’ve only seen black and white. With this in mind, I truly believe that nursing has changed the way I’ve thought about things. …show more content…
I never read a chapter fully ever. In spite of this fact, I still managed to excel in most of my classes; until I started my nursing journey. My nursing class was a rude awakening. In this case, I noticed my prior studying techniques were not cutting it in this field of study; I had to do more. I started challenging my brain and pushing myself harder. Consequently, I started advancing to the top. I studied all night for as long as I had to achieve my desired goal. Notably, my procrastination started to dwindle as my grades flourished. I have acquired these skills and techniques from this one program and I shall continue to bring these skills into every aspect of my academic

realize that I wasn’t as good of a writer that I thought I was. Throughout the semester, my papers gradually improved in grades, but also in quality. Prior to this semester, I was unaware that visualization was even a thing, and thought that showing not telling was for frivolous floosies who didn’t know how to write anything meaningful. This class has changed my perspective on the importance of imagery and creating a better experience for the reader. The first paper I wrote for this class was the Name…

As I began this course it was the one I was dreading the most. For as long as I remember I have been told my writing is terrible. As I began this course I realized it was not that I was bad at writing, it was the fact that I did not know correct mechanics or grammar and did not take it serious enough. I have learned so many new techniques and have improved as a writer. Although I will not say I love writing, I do not hate it. Within this class my best effort was for the personal narrative. I say…
