The novel Siddhartha and God’s Long Summer both show commonalities of religion as being an important part in the main characters of both books. In God’s Long Summer, each of the main individual characters in the first four chapters like the character Siddhartha, all were consistent with the statement, “What we believe matters.” All of the characters from both books used religion for giving them the strength to speak their minds, move on in their lives, and fight for what they believed in or wanted to accomplish. Also, in this book there is the statement of, “What we believe affects out vocation in relation to culture” and this pertains to the religious ideas and people’s courses of action through their faith and experiences they have went through. A person’s background determines his or her perspective on faith, so this shows how everyone is different.…

In the poems Summer Day, by Sarah A.Kettler, and Parched Earth, by Sally Hinton, both poets are able to convey their purpose through their use of diction. While the purpose of Kettler’s poem seems to be to essentially describe a summers day and illuminate in it’s laziness, Hinton’s purpose is to evaluate the state of Earth’s ecosystem. Like how each person writes a certain way, both Kettler and Hinton use their own distinct diction in their poems to achieve and convey their purpose.…

Did you know that Venus’ average surface temperature is 462 degrees celsius! This is one of the many reasons why I think that Ray Bradbury’s - “All Summer in a Day” setting isn’t possible. Venus is a different planet from earth. It has constant rain, and has wildly different surface temperatures. The mass of the planet is much greater than of Earth’s. These different circumstances on Venus, are very hard for humans to adapt to coming from Earth. Since the atmospheric pressure is 92 times greater than earth, Venus is the hottest planet in our solar system, and Venus’ atmosphere is made up of Carbon Dioxide, I believe that we won’t be able to colonize on Venus, as shown in the setting of “All Summer in a Day” by Ray Bradbury.…

August Heat Suspense can make you over think and become attentive. The feeling of wanting to know more creates confusions and boldness to the reader. The reason for suspense is to hook the reader onto the story, while hooking the reader to the story, the author wants to astound the reader into wanting more. W.F Harvey introduces suspense and it is shown throughout the story “August Heat” but it’s enhanced in the ending of the story. The story is about two men who occasionally meet one hot summer day but then one of the men become utterly shocked because the other man matched up with a person he randomly sketched.…

The first paragraph of any essay is the introduction of that essay. Refer to the chapter in your textbook about what belongs or does not belong inside an introduction. This chapter has been assigned or will be assigned soon. I recommend not writing an introduction until you have a thesis and all of your body paragraphs finalized. After a clear main idea and support for that main idea are established, you can decide how you’d like to introduce it. Beginning an essay about torture with a joke may not be wise, but until you have your essay written, there is no way of knowing whether a joke is appropriate. The final one or two (please spell all numbers under 100) sentences of the introduction is/are the thesis, and it must be followed immediately by paragraphs of support.…
