What Does Respect Mean To Me
Journal Entry 11- Respect The one thing i respect in people is their honesty, if you are honest with me i will respect you regardless. Also one other thing which makes me respect others is how you treat others and what you say about them when they are not there. If I hear you talking bad about another person when we are not that close i will loose a lot of respect because for all I know you talk about me too. The thing that I respect most about myself is the thing I wish to see in others too, honesty. I may come off at rude and may say the wrong thing at the wrong time which may upset you but i will be honest with you. Someone earns my respect by not doing me bad. In the t.v show Everybody Hates Chris, Terry Crews says that there is a difference …show more content…
Cole’s is Crooked Smile. I listen to this song everytime because it just makes me think about my life how other people struggle to impress others. One line from the song which really appeals to me is “We ain't picture perfect but we worth the picture still” and i believe he is talking about how everyone's always talking about their body , for example I'm too skinny, too short, too fat or as a reference to the song it self his crooked teeth. This song is important because someone will always try to bring someone down and especially in high school you will get judged over the smallest things that you do but this song assures you that you are still worth the …show more content…
I have never really been interested in an office job where all I do is sit around and fill out paperwork. That seems boring but in the military I will always be doing something different I may even be stationed in a different city or country. The military seems to be an adventurous thing which obviously I do take seriously but also am willing to spend at least ten years of life doing this. My uncle was in the army too and I was looked up to him and once when I went to visit him and his family I seen how he dressed up and went to work and I wanted to do it ever

Cole. The overall message of the song was accepting oneself and those imperfections that make one unique. I learned that J. Cole’s imperfection, his crooked teeth, made him self-conscious and insecure during his childhood. Despite the criticism and advice to change his imperfection, he refused to give in and just accepted who he was. This inspired me to do the same, realizing that the ugliness and the way I negatively perceived my moles and freckles were all just thoughts; thoughts that could be discarded in order to focus on more important things like family and success.…

From past experiences I have learned the real meaning of respect. This word is more powerful than one can imagine. With respect comes unselfishness. When people respect others, they are treated equally. My mother and father always told me to be tactful in the way I treated others, so I would also be respected. It has worked in the past and will always hold true in the future. If someone respects another with proper judgment, people feel good inside which gives them a sense of integrity. When I give respect and witness how it makes others feel, I feel like more of a person. I feel proud. Honored.…

In her book “Respect”, Sara Lawrence-Lightfoot probes an important element of all human relationships and provides personal stories of professionals who approach their work respectfully and pragmatically. What does respect mean to you? To me, respect means following the golden rule. It means treating others with kindness, love, generosity, and having polite manners. “Treat others as you would like to be treated.” That is the golden rule, is it not? Who wouldn’t want to be treated with kindness? Who wouldn’t want to be around someone with manners and cleanliness? Respect is being considerate to others and their feelings and beliefs. Respect isn’t just for others though, you need to respect yourself as well; take care of yourself and be presentable. If you would like to be treated with respect, you, first, need to learn to respect yourself and others. Once that is accomplished, others will learn to respect you.…

    The Importance Of Respect

Why can’t respect be seen as treat others in the way they should be treated and not just based upon the way the other person treat them? This is why patience is a virtue when it comes to respect. People often lose tempers when they feel disrespected because even though their definition is different, everyone feels they deserve it even if their means of giving it are not always right. Giving respect to a person gives them a sense of self-worth and it makes them feel like they are of value to someone or something. Respect gives people a sense of purpose in the lives of others and the line between the opposite should not be so thin. It may be easier for people to understand respect if they first understand the true value of the term and why it is so important. Point is no one likes to be disrespected and from this point of view makes it the easiest position for people to understand why it is important. Everyone at one time or another in their lives have been guilty of decreasing the level of respect for people they either don’t know, feel that they are less important, or people that don’t meet their standard for…

Emigrating here from a different country you would think that respect is definitely an aspect that remains the same throughout the whole world, but not necessarily so. Respect in the United States is virtually nonexistent, particularly the respect that children have towards their parents. That’s something I really can’t wrap my head around, coming from a southeast Asian country. Respect is something that us foreign kids are taught at a very young age, unlike here. Here it seems like even seniors in high school don’t know a single thing about respect whatsoever.…

Respect is something that you should just automatically express to others, but it depends on a lot of different things. It is a two way street. As much as I would always like to be respectful to all people, there are times when a person does something that might take away my respect. If I hear a person speaking rudely to her mom, I might not have the same respect for her/him that I had before. I should still try to show it…

Being respectful to people can go a long way. Just by not being rude and being respectful can go a long way. Be respectful to your parents for all they have done for you and the little they ask for back. Be respectful to cops for what they do for you also. They have to deal with people who need to be off the street all day long and then we don't have to worry about them being on the streets. Even if they pull you over and you get upset but they are just doing their jobs just like you and they have to make a living just like everyone else. They are also just trying to keep you safe and keep others safe as well. We need to have to be respectful to truck drivers also for what they do for us. They might be a truck driver but a lot of people complain…
