What Does Perseverance Mean To Me Essay
Lisa Smith once said, "Perseverance is the act of true role models and heroes." Role models shape you into the person you are. My mom, Shelley Wells, has always been the person I have looked up to since I was little. She has given me inspiration to do many great things in life, and I know she will be there to support me with my decisions one hundred percent of the time. She has accomplished so much in her life, and that is why I look up to her. Shelley Wells is an amazing friend, supporter, doctor, and mother.

My mom is there for me whenever I need a friend. I feel like I can tell her anything that is troubling me. She also knows exactly how to cheer me up when I am down and feeling depressed. Not only is she there when I'm sad, but we are always laughing and having a fun time.

My first word was mum. My mother has been there taking care of me since I was born and has not once let me down. She has worked so hard to provide me with everything I need; I hope that one day I can do the same for my child. Not only has she provided me with everything I could ever need; she has supported me through my life decisions. She always tells me, "Life is about choices, choose a good one." I know that she will always support me no matter what, and that's why she is my idol.

Today, sports are a big part of my life, and she has constantly been my number one cheerleader. Knowing that she is in the stands and cheering me on, makes me strive to give one hundred percent all the time. Even when I don't have the best game, she is there to encourage me to do better next time. I know sometimes she has a busy work schedule and is not able to be at my game. I still aim to try my hardest knowing that she will be the first one to know how I

I feel that my greatest skill is perseverance. When I was 9, I left brick and mortar education to pursue one of my greatest passions: figure skating. It was my dream to go the 2018 Winter Olympic Games representing the United States of America. Many years later, fractures in both of my knees ended that dream. I thought that I'd be able to return, and would have a fantastic comeback story, but the knee pain never left. I was never able to return to the sport.…

My mom supports me in all that I do and wants me to be the best I can be. The responsibility of five children can be demanding but my mom always finds the time to go to all of our games and events and cheer us on! Not only does she support my siblings and I, but our teams as well. She is always willing to assist in the running of fundraisers, taking pictures of our teammates, providing us with dinner, and assisting the coach in any way she can. Everything she does is to ensure that we have an enjoyable season. Another way my mom supports us is making sure we have a successful education. If I am struggling on my homework she will find ways for to help me fully understand even if she does not. She will go online and teach herself, or find someone who can tutor me. Making sure her children do not go without is another important issue for my mom. She always takes time out of her day to cook us dinner, buy us clothes, or any supplies we might need. One of the reasons my mom is so supportive is because of her energy and drive to excel at everything she does.…

Secondly, my mother is my personal hero because she is a caring person. My mom is part of the minority who make it a part of everyday life to help others. She’s passionate about teaching profoundly mentally handicap children, a job which may be considered undesirable, yet she wouldn’t trade it for the world. She is also the first to offer a helping hand to anybody any time. She has given people a home, a shoulder to cry on, advice, all the help she can give, and most importantly given someone in need the feeling of knowing that there is someone out there who cares. Also, she constantly encouraged me to further my education. She doesn’t want me to go through the same struggles as she went through numerous times. My mother knew growing up she…

My mom’s considerable heart is one of the things that I love most of all about her. She gives so much of her time to others. Whether she is teaching an illiterate person to read or just being that one friend you need to be around, she is always the first person there. Her ability to love people unconditionally is amazing. When I was three years old, I was adopted, and at first sight she enveloped me in love and affection. She never seems to judge people, regardless she accepts people for who they are. She doesn’t use up energy to dislike someone, instead she prays for them. She tells me that you do not have to like what someone is doing, but you should show them kindness anyway.…

“Perseverance is the hard work you do after you get tired of doing the hard work you already did.” – Newt Gingrich. Many people have different perspectives on perseverance but originally it is defined as a steady persistence in a course of action, especially in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragements. To me it is much more than that, it is getting through any obstacle that gets in the way of achieving your goals; it takes commitment, dedication, hard work, endurance and patience. Perseverance is when I push myself every day to be able to play basketball again, it is when Liesel, a character created in the novel ‘The Book Thief’ by Marcus Zusack, helps Max, a Jewish man, or when Peter, a German boy, overcomes the pressure to conform to the Nazi ways in the movie ‘The Swing Kids’. I have been taught by various people in my life whether it was directly or indirectly what perseverance is, how it is shown, and why people would want to persevere.…
