What Does It Mean To Be Legendary?
Doing the unthinkable, achieving the impossible, heroes can be selfless. Heroes can be misunderstood, or they can easily stand out. They can be an everyday pedestrian, a boss, a relative. They could be the usual firefighter or a cop. A hero can be anything - strange, handicapped, anything except evil or wanting to make bad choices. Heroes can be legendary, heroes can be extraordinary, heroes should be celebrated.

To be legendary is to be wise, powerful. Legendary outside of heroism could mean being athletic, the one to beating World Records *cough Bolt and Phelps*. Being legendary means to not be a standard citizen, but different from others. When thinking legendary think of someone that can easily pull off a cape. Sometimes legendary means to be the strong and bold. Like sacrificing time and effort for others. Not to be cowardly and selfish. Thinking only for themselves and not others. Like a firefighter or a cop tackling a citizen to save them from an incident. Not willing to lend a hand because they have their own agenda.

There is a big difference between legendary and extraordinary. Do not get the two titles mixed up. Though they can have similarities, these heroes can easily be able to stand out and/or up. The intelligent and wise, aware of the small differences. Extraordinary outside heroism could mean having a rubix cube in hand and tossing it complete in 10 seconds. Being several steps ahead of everybody or being able to make a comeback in history. When thinking extraordinary think of the smart people in history. Like Martin Luther King jr. He had a rough life and was the heart of the blacks to being equal to whites. He gave his people hope, he gathered up tons of people to walk with him through the bridge. He had brought numerous people to stand up and walk with to declare equal

This story is about a man named Odysseus who fought to save his life. Suffering from bitter days and nights. Trying to get his shipmates home. Although Odysseus couldn’t save them, for their own recklessness destroyed each and every one of them. Acting as children and fools, they feasted on the cattle of the Sun God Helios. From all of these adventures, the daughter of Zeus, Muse, tells us in our time to lift the great song again. Killing his own men on the land of Scylla and Charybdis’, and lying.…

Heroism and heroes are two things that no matter what, will always be around, people will always admire heroes, and wish they could be them. While there is an endless supply of heroes from the beginning of time, there are only a few definitions, yet over time that definition has changed to an extent. Dictionary.reference.com defines hero as: “A man of distinguished courage of ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities.” Campbell’s definition, “someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself… The hero performs a courageous act in battle and saves lives,” varies quite a bit from the twenty first century definition. In both Joseph Campbell’s definition and dictionary.com’s definition, several characteristics of heroes are laid out before us: courageousness, dedication, and selflessness. These can be considered the three pillars of heroism; these characteristics add character and depth to a hero, other than somebody who performed a glorious act. Courage, the biggest pillar, are the building blocks of a hero, without courage, you simply cannot be an admired hero. Courage allows you…

Someone may not seem like they could be a hero but by doing what they can, could help make a huge difference in someone’s life. Being a hero is not always what movies and comic books make it out to be; a hero can be a regular person being generous. Making the right choices and decisions is what helps shape a person to be a hero; they don’t become one just for the fame.…
