what does it mean to be a man?
What Does It Mean To Be A Man? A man is someone who used to be a boy. Those strange humans who you claimed had cooties but most likely you don’t think that way about a man. When you think of a man you think of someone who is tall and thin with brown hair and beaming blue eyes. Everyone obsesses over them, like when you were little and you were in love with the pop star of the month. You always get your heart broken by them. Is that what a man is? Most girls these days always expect someone perfect and when they don’t get that you will know it. They usually don’t accept guys who might not be a twig or one who actually has a brain and isn’t conceited. The social media has created false hopes and expectations for the female population. They want the perfect relationship that you may see on twitter or tumblr. Girls don’t go after gentlemen they go after a man. If you are open-minded a man isn’t always the breadwinner. They support but not always over support. A man knows what is right and what is wrong, they are truthful and faithful. One main detail about them is they are family oriented and will do absolutely everything they can to keep their family stable and positive. They don’t have to be that perfect look they have to be good on the inside. Perfect doesn’t exist so basically women are looking for something they will never find. In almost all love stories or movies in this generation you will see a “man”, this is a misconception. Everyone has their own definition of a man but most get it wrong in my eyes. I have watched girls in high school always go after that picture perfect guy but then there are some who rise above that and go after the soft spoken men who turn out to be picture perfect in your eyes, because you understand. Chivalry seemed to die out ages ago but a man should still be chivalrous. If you are one of those girls who get one of those quote on quote perfect guys you will soon realize who they really are, they create a false image for

Barry explains that ‘man’ sounds like a very serious and important word when it “primarily consists of possessing a set of minor and frequently unreliable organs”. There is another way in looking at males than just “aggressive, macho dominators”. For example, Dave Barry states that guys like neat stuff. Neat stuff includes “mechanical and unnecessarily complex”. The example he uses is his computer. Barry has the latest model and exaggerates that it is “capable of supervising the entire U.S. air-defense apparatus while processing the tax return of every resident in Ohio”. Yet, soon after a new computer model is released, he will upgrade to this newer version just because he is a guy and that is the guy thing to do.…

Because you're nice like that. The nice guys don't often get credit where credit is due. And perhaps more disturbing, the nice guys don't seem to get laid as often as they should. And I wish I could logically explain this trend, but I can't. From what I have observed on school and what I have learned from talking to friends at other schools and in the workplace, the only conclusion I can form is that many girls are just illogical, manipulative bitches. Many of them claim they just want to date a nice guy, but when presented with such a specimen, they say irrational, confusing things as "oh, he's too nice to date" or "he would be a good boyfriend but he's not for me" or "he already puts up with so much from me, I couldn't possibly ask him out!" or the most frustrating of all: "no, it would ruin our…

“The single story creates stereotypes, and the problem with stereotypes is not that they are untrue, but that they are incomplete. They make one story become the only story.” (Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie) The claim that all women desire the same thing is going to stereotype a whole gender. Dennis Prager’s explores this generalization in his editorial “What do Women Want?” He bases his whole argument around one simple statement, “What a woman most wants is to be loved by a man she admires.” Prager describes the archetype of an admirable man based on the three qualities of strength, integrity, and ambition. His editorial, however accurate at some points, makes an incorrect assertion of what women really want the most. The evidence he uses to back up his argument is completely centered around men, making the assumption that women’s security lies in whether or not the man she marries is admirable. This does not take all the women who are unmarried, or do not even have an interest in men into…

To act like a “lady” one should walk with confidence, and always remember to look her best at all times. On the other hand, think like a man and play by the rules of the status quo. I believe that a lady should remember to never let her guard down and give off a confident aurora. I’ve had some experience in relationships and dealing with guys that can manipulate a girls’ mind. Women have to learn how to play by the guys rules and think like a man. It’s the only way to avoid getting played.…

Anything that connects to a woman (even though a woman birthed you into the world), like housework, staying at home to watch the kids, or even being emotional, is put down. Men who don’t fit into the traditional role of masculinity are ignored and are seen as weak. On top of that, men are constantly told to gain respect. If he loses respect in anything, then he’s not manly because that’s what a man is supposed to be all about. But what is respect? According to Mariam-Webster respect is “a feeling or understanding that someone or something is important, serious, etc., and should be treated in an appropriate way.”…

Even though many people will say that men are all the same, men are capable of changing for the better. After all, we are all humans. Humans change for the better every day like going to rehab and fix their problems. Men that change for the better are shown throughout literature, history, and the media. There are many times where men were able to change completely, like the Grinch, Tiger Woods, and in the movie “Click” where Adam Sandler acted as Michael Newman who was portrayed as a workaholic.…

    True Women and Real Men

True women and real men are only the image that children have been brought up to become as they grow. Little boys aren’t always hardwired to like only dinosaurs and trains. This is just the same as how girls don’t necessarily choose to play with dolls. Even colors such as blue and pink are made to be associated for specific genders at an early age. The concept is just a grouping of stereotypical male and female characteristics that don’t necessarily always apply to individuals in either gender. Examples include such statements as that men must not show emotion and that men believe the most important thing is sex. Masculinity is also thought to be displayed by a man who is able to provide for his family by holding a job and excelling at a profession. However, a hate of having to commit and to always act tough in all situations isn‘t in all male genes. Sometimes men in many cases actually greatly value a woman’s loyalty. A female can be independent and successful without a husband or any other men in her life. They take up jobs and strive…
