What Does Hellblazer Mean To Me
The easy subject I could have pick would be hockey or lacrosse and how clever the two sports are when you look at it in an intellect way. I have always been a fan of history and when I was 13 years old, I watch every single program on the History channel. I was looking for something to occupy my down time. I heard about comic books and their rich history and backstory, but and I thought “that is for kids.” I would not think about reading comic books until I saw character that look like Sting and had a deadpan sense of humor. I grow attached to the comic book character John Constantine(tine not teen), and I started reading this comic book series called “Hellblazer,” he was the main character. I would never look back at that decision. Everyone …show more content…
The simplest way I can explain is every time he uses magic it will cost him something. John knows that using his powers will cost him got pretty good at talking his way out of situations. Without his magic, he is just a normal person who will piss you off anytime he opens his mouth. He would make a pretty good Senator or President in American with his gift of gab. The best explain of John talking his way out of things would be the story arch called “Dangerous Habits,” by Jamie Delano. The character is known for chain smoking cigarettes and hating anyone who uses drugs, which is why he was able to use Gary as a sacrifice without feeling guilty. With everyone knowing that smoking can kill you and the series foreshadowing this arch by having characters telling John that he will kill from smoking. The payoff finally come when John was diagnosed with lung cancer. Normally the good guys have nothing bad happen to them not even a runny nose. This raise the question when happens when a superhero gets a disease, does he quit? Or does he continue to be a superhero until he dies? John getting cancer finally made the reader think that comic book characters are not immortal. The comic book never deal with question of the hero dying what happen next. Normally superhero do not do drugs, drink and respect authority. John did shrooms, smokes cigarettes all the time, and sometime most of his stories end with him binge drinking so he can forget all of the mistake and decisions he made, but the ghost do not let him to that. The comic raise the question what would someone do when they are give an expiration date on their life? Will someone do nothing or tried to live they life to the fullest. John knows of only one way that can cure his lung cancer, which is he talks away his cancer. John will go down to hell and talk to three demons, who will do anything to get John souls. John promise

John chooses to disappear from the New World rather than to be an experiment for the controllers. The choices of words shows that he uses the choice of words Shakespeare would dictate. His tone is serious and a little angry towards the people. It is ironic how John went to the New World thinking it would be better for him, but all it’s been is trouble and difficult for him. John is a rebellious person for wanting to leave society and live on his own. It feels as if he is eager to get away from them so he doesn’t become an experiment. The theme is that in order for you to make a bold decision for yourself, you have to think of the sacrifices you have to make. John is characterized as an outsider who thinks on his own and doesn’t follow what the controllers say. In order to be free, you have to free yourself from the people who are controlling you.…

First, John becomes ostracized by so many when people find out that he has lots of hatred for the town’s Reverend; Reverend Parris. John says, “I have trouble enough without I come five mile to hear him preach only hellfire and bloody damnation…There are many others who stay away from church these days because you hardly ever mention God anymore” (Page 28. Line 28). Also John says, “…to ask ownership is like you shall own the meeting house itself; the last meeting I were at you spoke so long on deeds and mortgages I thought it were an auction” (Page 30. Line 8). Even though John says his reasons for not liking the ways of Reverent Parris, he is still looked down upon because it is unacceptable to not attend church on a weekly basis in the town of Salem in 1692. This is an instance of John being weak because instead of trying to figure out a solution with Reverend Parris, he just stops going to church. Another example of John Proctor showing weakness in the play is when he cheats on Elizabeth. When John says, “No more! I should have roared you down when first you told me your suspicion. But I wilted, and like a Christian, I confessed. Confessed...Let you look sometimes for the goodness in me, and judge me not” (Page 55. Line 7), he is confessing the truth which shows him being somewhat strong. The overall aspect of his dishonesty displays weakness and lacks…

My final topic that I chose is The Harlem Renaissance. The Harlem Renaissance was the name given to the cultural, social, and artistic explosion that took place in Harlem. In a phase of the Great Migration, half a million African Americans or so moved to the cities of the North. Most of them moved from the rural South in hopes of escaping poverty and oppression of Jim Crow Laws. White Landlords refused to rent to African-Americans, this led many newcomers to cluster in all-black neighborhoods. In the 1920's Harlem became the center of African-American Culture.…

He is a sophomore in a New York City high school. He is terribly dissatisfied with his life and misbehaves in interesting ways to try to give meaning to his own existence. He appears to have great potential and wants to be an actor. Like most teens, he will eventually discover that he, and he alone, makes his life whatever it will become. John is a complicated guy. First of all, he has a real problem with any kind of authority. He is in constant conflict with his father; he lies to his teachers and refers to them as "retarded." In fact, he lies to pretty much everybody, except Lorraine. In school he spends his time setting off firecrackers in the bathroom and playing pranks on substitutes, though he says those days are behind him now. Despite disliking authority figures and school, he's really smart and can get good grades when he wants to. However, more often he uses his intelligence, good looks, and charm to manipulate people. Lorraine tells us that John is "extremely handsome" (2), and John immodestly agrees: "Like Lorraine told you, I really am very handsome and I do have fabulous eyes" (3). John writes that he's "going to be a great actor" (3), and, with his good looks and imagination, we can well believe it. John also has a softer, compassionate side, and thinks deeply about the meaning of life and death. Lorraine tells us that John would be "the last person on earth" (2) to show that he has compassion, and that he pretends he doesn't care about anything in the world. He is only fifteen, but is already a heavy drinker and a heavy smoker. Let's break this down:John and his ParentsJohn does not get along with his parents, especially his father, whom he refers to as "Bore." One of the first things we learn…

I have chosen the topic of militarization of police. This is the process of training local law enforcement officers how to respond to situations that everyday police officers would not know how to handle. It requires military equipment and techniques. The stakeholders in this issue include the manufactures of military equipment, the SWAT teams, local law enforcement officers, the citizens where the SWAT teams serve, the military, the government, the ACLU, and the groups who are rioting or otherwise being controlled by a SWAT team. I think important ethical considerations would include profit, motivation, and fairly weighing the pros and cons of having a militarized police force.…

John’s feelings changed at the end of the play during the trial. John was being tried for witchcraft and was going to be set free if he signed a paper saying he did do witchcraft. He, however, could not do so for the reason that he could not teach his sons to be men if he does not stand up for his beliefs. He was going to lie and say he did do witchcraft so he could be set free. His wife Abigail was even going to lie for him. He couldn’t do it though because he was not going to lie, even if it meant he was going to be hung.…
