What Can I Do to Make This Country a Better Place to Live in?
As A National Discipline Awardee,
What Can I Do To Make This Country A Better Place To Live In?

Is our country still a better place to live in? If we will to analyze the situations now, there were many incidents that took place in our country. Our country suffers from addictions, poverty, corruption, injustices, murders, prostitutions, terrorism, environmental abuses and others. Amidst the perceived problems, we are still optimistic for our country. We still hope for the best.

I am very fortunate to be one of the nominees for the National Discipline Award. I am accepting the challenges to be a model for everyone, to be courageous and faithful to the teachings of God. I still believed that there is always sunshine after the rain. I want to be the bearers of truth and light to my fellow Louiseans.

To make our country a better place to live in is hard for a teenager like me. But I can in my simple ways like encouraging my fellow youth to be cooperative, to be generous in sharing their talents, time and possessions. I will also be responsible with my duties, being a good steward of God's creation and I will inspire others to value education and encourage them to help their neighbors. I think and I truly believe that: “A journey of a thousand mile must begin with a single step.”

Let's join hands to make our country a better place to live in. If everyone joins in a simple act, big wonders can happen! And more so, Philippines would be a better place to live in. Now, therefore, before we can change the world, it will begin first with our innermost being.

    J. Hector St. John de Crevecouer had a unique opinion about America in the late 1700s. He believed that every person that lived here shared some things in common, “Here [in America] individuals of all nations are melted into a new race of men, whose labors and posterity will one day cause great change in the world… The American is a new man, who acts upon new principles; he must therefore, entertain new ideas, and form new opinions” (Crevecouer).…

It is my responsibility to America to preserve this country for the generations to come. People before me paved the way to a great American life, and it is every one of our responsibilities to keep it that way. My responsibility to America is to be an informed voter, knowing what candidates for public office think, and using my own moral judgment to vote for the best choice. I’m not yet old enough to vote, but I still know what’s going on in the elections, because it is my responsibility to elect leaders who will keep our country safe.…

People every day make mistakes, and find flaws in their everyday tasks. No one person in this country can consider his, or herself, perfect. Knowledgeable people do exist in this world though, and our government strives to find and elect these representatives. These representatives then make decisions that affect our country in ways some might find positive, though others perceive as negative. Representatives could make decisions that would only impact our government in a negative way. Our government has its flaws, along with the people running it. I can think of several ways to help to improve the government and its efficiency.…

I have, for the majority of my life, lived a sheltered life, and have never realized how corrupt our society really was. Our nation has, in some ways, proved to be without moral. In fact, the entire world is based on "the rich get richer" theory. I, for one want to change that. I want to be a government official that supports morality, understands the people, and truly unites the nation. I want everybody to have the opportunity to live a decent life that is not limited by his or her financial situation, race, or background. I want to be able to stop hate crimes, terminate prejudice, and open up a new, more peaceful world.…
