What Are The Arguments Against Alphabetical Listings
Alphabetical listings are effective and organized systems of filing information. Some find the system unfair because it singles out people with last names starting with letters at the end of the alphabet. This person doesn't want to admit that it could start from Z to A. Alphabetical order is an easy system and should not be banned because of the ludicrous thought of unfairness. One of the strongest arguments against this system is that people with last names starting with letters found at the end of the alphabet always get picked last. This might happen more, but the system of organizing this information shouldn't be affected. If people with names starting with letters found at the end of the alphabet feel that the system takes advantage

The quality of information involves how correct it is. Therefore, data integrity and quality of an HIE involve the dependability of its accuracy. A critical element to Health Information Exchanges is patient identification. Access to and transfer of correct data will assist in ensuring quality care for the patient. Record duplication poses another problem and hazard for quality patient care. The use of algorithms can assist organizations and exchanges in ensuring data integrity and quality. A basic algorithm will compare data based on matches of certain pieces of information such as name, birthdate, etc. The “wild-card” is an example of a basic algorithm. For example, when searching for names using the wild card algorithm, the first three letters in a last name can be entered along with a specified character, such as an asterisk, and the search will return any number of records attached to last names beginning with those three letters. With an intermediate algorithm, other unique identifiers are attached for a more complex search. These searches will yield slightly more specific results such as last names and first names that can be used as either/or (i.e. David, John, etc.) along with names that have been shortened to nicknames attached to identical birthdates. The most complex algorithm allowing the most specific results is the advanced algorithm, and generally involves artificially…

Details: The Supreme Court has repeatedly asserted that a defendant is not entitled to a jury composed in whole or in part of persons of his own race. Although these rulings establish that states are not obligated to use racially mixed juries, they do not prohibit states from doing so. In fact, a number of policymakers and legal scholars have proposed reforms that use racial criteria to promote racial diversity on American jury. Some have suggested that the names of majority race jurors be removed from the jury list (thus ensuring a larger proportion of racial minorities); others have suggested that a certain number of seats on each jury be set aside for racial.…

“Fair” is the keyword within this question. The word “fair” is non-existent in any hiring scenario or within a business. Someone who is looking to hire you as a new employee is not going to see who has the most “pros”, but their main focus will be on who has the least “cons”. It’s sort of like a “socially acceptable discrimination” (which still is wrong).…

People with more African American names, even if they are not black at all, have a disadvantage in the competitive job field. According to the “National Bureau of Economic Research” (NBER), "Job applicants with white names needed to send about 10 resumes to get one callback; those with African-American names needed to send around 15 resumes to get one callback" (“National Bureau of Economic Research” 1). This means people with more “black” names have to send 50% more resumes just to get a call back. This discrimination exists in most workplaces you would try to apply to, even to places that promote their “Equal Opportunity Employer” blarney. Even with something so simple, a name…

Roland G. Fryer is a well known, black professor economist at Harvard University and faculty director of the Education Innovation Laboratory. Fryer is well-known for his straight-forward writings on race and devotion to the question concerning, “Why blacks perform low scores on the SAT’s and earn less money than whites.” (Levitt, J, S. D., & Dubber, S. J., 2005, pg.166) In addition, Fryer’s fascination with the occurring segregation in the black and white cultural has led him to many successful studies, including the gap, differences of black parents and white parents in choosing baby names. According to his analysis of the California names data, a person with…

It instead puts race as a dominant factor in admissions. The most qualified students should be accepted, regardless of race. The criteria for finding members for this collection should be based on individual achievement grades and test scores, of course, but also a broad range of accomplishments, in things like athletics, music, student government, drama, school clubs and other extracurricular activities. Race and ethnicity (or gender or sexual preference) do not have a place on this list these are not achievements they are just traits. The worst part about affirmative action is that it undermines the hard working minority. It is difficult to tell if a minority student was admitted to a prestigious school like Harvard because of their individual achievements and effort or was it because of some affirmative action…
