According to Georgia State University Library, a primary source are the documents or artifacts closest to the topic of investigation. Primary sources also include first-hand accounts that were later documented. These documents or artifacts are generally made during the time being investigated. However, they can be made later by eyewitnesses or people who were involved. Primary sources are typically found in their original state though.
