Whale Talk Sparknotes
The book Whale Talk is a really good book because it teaches about life and how some kids get treated and also how other kids grow up. One thing to remember is that the book is meant for the reader to put themselves in the character's shoes to fully understand what they are going through. When Tj tries to get a swim team together it is hard but sense he has the heart of loving the sport he does it and it turns out to be the best team because they all love each other and would do anything for one another. The way Chris Crutcher forms Chris Coughlin from a kid who was always scared to go to school to a kid who is proud to where his swimming varsity jacket all because Tj was there to help him through it. It is sad at some parts but exciting at the same time so just sit back hold on tight and enjoy the book Whale talk.

Dan Holes life before he joined the swim team was lonely all that he cared about was school and getting good grades. When he first joined the team he didn't talk much and when he did it was always genius talk and whenever he talked like that Icko made him do push

All that Tj wanted was to make a great swim team something theses guys can call home and most importantly it was to prove people wrong at Cutter High School that they can be somebody. Dan just wants to be apart of something and the whole time he kinda just kept quiet because he didn't really want to be noticed and then kicked off the team but they said they would never do that to him and that made him smile. With dan not being an athletic kid and not very built it was hard for him but having the team there changed to swimmer he is and the person he is and has become. If it wasn't for Tj bringing the team together and them having the long talks on the bus ride they would have never been together or even interacted for that

Niki Caro’s film The Whale Rider, conveys the importance of rebelling in order to progress through depicting the stage of finding the boon of success in the Heroine’s Journey. After Koro’s young, male students fail to retrieve Koro’s rei puta to determine who would become the next chief, Paikea secretly retrieves his rei puta. In this scene, Caro alternates between shots of Paikea diving into the ocean and shots of the rei puta lying on the ocean floor with seaweed surrounding it. Through the portrayal of Paikea diving into the ocean to retrieve the rei puta, Caro demonstrates Paikea “diving” into her culture and finding ways to carry on old traditions whilst breaking the old traditions which are no longer applicable to her day and age.
