The advantage of welfare is that it helps the poor afford what they could not. The money to support these welfare programs are from the government which they have collected from the tax dollars of its citizens. People who are on welfare have been taxed and are supplying to the government as well. It was a program that was created for the people. Without this program many would be left without anything to eat, medical care, or basic necessities.
The disadvantage of welfare is that those who have abused it have created a stigma towards welfare users. There are certain qualifications to receive welfare some such as income, household size, or employment status. You must not make over a certain amount depending on how many people you are taking care of. Some have lied to receive welfare when they are more than capable of providing for themselves. Also people have poked fun at welfare recipients because they were never able to get “name brand products” and it has become embarrassing to most to allow others to know. It has also brought on issues of dependence on welfare. People may feel as though they do not need to try to find work because the government will pay for what they need.
To me welfare has its ups and downs regarding how money is supplied and the regulations for those who can receive aide. For the unemployed or those who can not work welfare is something they can use and not be ashamed of. For some whom are working but are struggling to provide for their family welfare can be a harder process to come by. I feel as though the government sets the limit of how much someone can make before they stop receiving welfare is too low. The cost of living in different areas fluctuates and I do not believe some people can fully provide for their family with housing, food, clothing, and medical care with their income.
Welfare is a program set forth to help people of the government who are in need. I feel as though some use it and some abuse it. It should be something used for temporary means with every intent to try and put some effort towards not relying on welfare. It should not be something people should be ashamed of.

Welfare is supposed to be good and helpful but it’s being seen as wasteful, not worth it by others, and simply has other issues that the government is in need of solving. It is supposed to be helping people such as single mothers get back on their feet, however many are abusing this help and having more children to continue receiving welfare money for a long period of time. People are not supposed to be on welfare for a long period of time, this program was meant to help people out temporarily so they could get back to work and provide for themselves, soon though, not years later (wikipedia). However, it is making some people lazier by getting money just to sit at home and do nothing. Some people are not motivated to get a job, or simply do not want a job and would prefer to live on welfare for years…

Welfare fraud seems to be a big and expensive problem in Massachusetts and all around the world. I am not saying that all of the welfare system is bad it just needs to be changed because it easily allows many people to commit fraud and is plainly misused. It wastes too much money and can send kids down a worse road in life then they deserve. It is unfortunate that some people who really do need the help can’t get it and other people can just sit back and collect money that doesn’t belong to them. Welfare can take a variety of forms, such as monitored payments, subsidies, vouchers, food stamps, or housing programs such as Section 8. Welfare can be provided by governments, non-governmental organizations such as Catholic Charities, or a combination of the two. Welfare programs may be funded directly by governments, or in social insurance models, by the members of the Welfare scheme. Welfare systems differ from country to country, but Welfare is commonly provided to individuals who are unemployed, those with illness or disability, the elderly, those with dependent children, and veterans. A person 's eligibility for Welfare may also be constrained by means testing or other conditions.…

Essentially, welfare needs to be abolished. People that work are getting harmed by it and people that are not helping the economy by getting a job, benefit from it. Equality is a big thing and this is not equality by keeping welfare checks for the poor and lazy. As you can see, our economy is going down hill until the government does something about…

The debate over Welfare has been a hot topic in the U.S for many years now. Welfare in the U.S. started long before the government welfare programs that we know today. Welfare started in the early days when the U.S. colonies imported the British Laws. The laws made were established for those unable to work because of their age or physical health and those able to work just unemployed. When the Great Depression began, nearly 18 million elderly, disabled, and single mothers already lived at the bare subsistence level. Welfare does not benefit everyone, but who does it benefit? Welfare is meant to help the unemployed and also help is extended to the poor through programs that include Medicaid, called the Woman, Children, and Infants Program. Welfare…

Welfare assistance programs have been in place in America for over 75 years. Following The Great Depression, President Roosevelt created the Social Security Act in 1935 in order to meet the needs of the elderly and unemployed. The Act also provided funding to states for programs such as the Aid to Families with Dependent Children program in order to help children who were living in poverty (Streissguth 7-12). Welfare started out quite successfully, but for the past 17 years it has been a topic of controversy in D.C., and has been the focus of many debates.…

Many people believe our welfare system is poor, unregulated, and unstable. Most individuals who are on welfare abuse the privileges they receive; moreover, a vast amount of the individuals do not even need the financial support. Our welfare system should be changed in order to support those who really need aid. It is terrible to see individuals who truly need help not be able to receive it because of other people who take advantage of something they do not need.…

Welfare was created in 1935 to provide for the families in need of food, clothing, and shelter, but today it has become a large, controversial topic. Some people argue that it is ridiculous that some people can’t take care of themselves and must rely on everyone else’s money to support them. Those people cause those on welfare to become ashamed of themselves. I believe people on welfare should not feel ashamed because some do hold a job if not multiple, but still cannot provide for themselves and others have certain disabilities that restrict them from getting a job and supporting themselves.…

President Ronald Reagan once said, "Welfare 's purpose should be to eliminate, as far as possible, the need for its own existence." Welfare was only created to help the needy through a tough time; to get in-need citizens the extra push they need to get back on their feet. Once the needy aren 't in need, welfare doesn 't need to exist any longer. Because of abuse of the system, welfare "need" has increased, even though it shouldn 't. Stricter guidelines, more governmental awareness of how the money given is spent, and a smaller welfare budget would assist in eliminating the need for welfare, just as Ronald Reagan once…

One last argument that proponents for welfare like to make is, that it’s much needed assistance. Although I do agree that the welfare system does help people in need of assistance, it starts to create a problem. Recipients become dependant on the system and become dependant on the checks, food stamps, and medical care benefits that come with the program. This leads to a chain effect where the recipient doesn't want to get a job or better themself instead they want to rely on the system as their source of income. In the end, the welfare system needs to be fixed and changed to better not only themselves and their family, but to also help cut the flow of money that we waste yearly on the welfare…
