* How do your surrounding affect your reading comprehension? How might you minimize distractions while you are reading for your class assignments?

Many things may affect your reading comprehension. Your surroundings and environment play an important role in your ability to comprehend when reading. Anything can be a distraction if it causes you to lose focus and draws your attention to something else. Distractions can be visual, physical, and auditory. To minimize distractions while you are reading first make sure you are in a place that is comfortable and away from electronic devices; television, computer, and phone. Be sure the temperature is not too hot or cold. If you are continually distracted while reading, you may not have a strong understanding and may need to reread the assignment or article.

In English 1A I am beginning to understand how to enjoy writing. One fatal flaw I previously had in my writing process was that I tried to write the near final draft the first time, it was a slow and tedious process, that made my despise writing. The tool I used to overcome this is freewriting- being able to just throw out hundreds of words in short amount of time with ease is such a relief when it comes to write an assignment like these. Plenty of my free write words don't ever make into my final paper, but just free writing with no limitations is actually fun. I recall how enjoyable it was to write for the genre paper. The genre paper did it feel like work and I managed to create many great ideas. Freewriting is also useful because the lack…

Writing has always been a reluctant process for me. When planning to write a paper I always write down all my ideas I want to talk about and my professor for advice too. I specifically think I did very well on paper one. I usually do not enjoy writing when it turns into an essay about a subject I have to pretend to care about, but I really did enjoyed writing paper one. From the six weeks of taking this class, I do feel like my writing has improved by becoming more structured, defined and straight forward.…

Writers begin to ‘speak’ on paper (Elbow 2000, 86). Further, when writers regularly do freewriting, they obtain satisfaction and pleasure from it. Writing becomes an occasion of discovery rather than…
