In week two I learned a lot about how different databases reflect in different ways according to the different business needs. During the second discussion question I learned about how the two major databases, Microsoft Access and Oracle are leading the top businesses today. There were many differences between the two and I found that in my career I have been using both without knowing it at first. The individual assignment was probably the most informative portion of the week because I was able to learn more about the business systems and am now able to apply them to where I work now.
What I learned from week one:
This week I learned about the top two databases, different types of information systems, and the benefits they have in today's businesses and the competition. I'm remembering how much planning must go into creating a business and the need for a full business plan detailing every single aspect of what will be required such as the information system used. Databases can hold many terabytes of data and can easily be backed up for emergencies which is especially helpful as data increases or rots over time. They sort information, eliminate mistakes and, track data, generate knowledge and utilize a variety of applications. Almost all organizations are using databases. Warehouses use them to analyze data to generate information in order to decide how well they are doing, what they need to do, and how to best utilize their assets in order to expand.
