We Get Educated Only In School Essay
“We get educated only in school” What are your views?

When I think about knowledge the first thing that comes to my mind is education. I believe that knowledge comes to people by their experiences in life. In other words, life is an instrument that leads me to gain knowledge. Many people consider that old people are wise because they have learned from good and bad experiences throughout their lives. Education requires work, dedication and faith to gain knowledge. We acquire knowledge through the guidance of from parents, role models, teachers and life experiences. Hence, school is not the only place to get educated. Nevertheless, schools are still necessary as they lay a foundation for the thirst of knowledge. Schools are the proven places where students can acquire formal education. To be specific, schools are composed of teachers who have proven themselves eligible for teaching students. However, if students were to learn education in other places not by teachers, they would not be able to get as better education as from formal teachers. Teachers who have studied so hard for the passion to teach students have great amount knowledge. There is great difference between formal and informal teachers since, formal teachers have studied so hard to achieve eligibility to teach students. Whereas informal teachers can just read out letters from books. Thus, we need formal teachers who can better teach students with useful information that they studied for long time. Schools also teach many useful skills. Schools can teach the most important skill to live in society, how to socialize with people. Since students see their friends almost every day, they will better know how to make friends and how to socialize with new people. Some might argue that students will be able to socialize better in other places, but students can build real friendship and companions in school, encountering similar problems as their peers. They need to solve problems with their peers, and they would eventually make friendship and bond between friends which would last for a long time. Hence schools are places where you can get educated.
Library is also a place where one can get educated. There is a variety of books that provides lots of knowledge. Books are another way to acquire knowledge to pass on. I think this is a very important way to acquire knowledge because it is very simple to apply in our lives. We do not know when we have acquired knowledge. Mike Rose would be considered a person that gained knowledge through his books. He did not have much when he was growing up, but he acquired knowledge through reading. He felt that he actually acquired knowledge through his books. In the article, “live on the Boundary Rose said, “Eventually the books that seemed so distant, those Great books, would work this way into my curiosity I wrote”. Mike Rose is an excellent example of how easy it is to learn and acquire knowledge from books. Hence, library is a place where one can get educated.
One also gets educated through life experience. There are a lot of things in life we cannot learn at schools. In other words, to a certain limit and depend on different situations, the knowledge in books can or cannot be used in real life where we have to learn by practicing as more as possible. Moreover, books are written by people who are chosen and considered as professors at any field. So, the more they can write in books the more they have to learn and practice themselves through life experiences, because the valuable theories are ones which have been proven by practice. We learn through direct experience, to accept theory without experience is to learn nothing at all. School can sometimes be boring, I cannot argue with that, but it is key to developing not only book smarts, but also social skills. Confidence and learning how to gain and keep responsibility pave the road to success in the world outside school. Not appreciating the lessons learned in school is like rowing a boat with one oar just like trying to get through life with only the information found in school books leaves the rower an oar short. To prevent drowning in the waves of ignorance and knowledge, a person must have both experience and knowledge. By applying lessons learned in school to real life and vice versa, a person is more likely to work to his potential and succeed in life.
Hence, education is not limited by school. There are various ways you can gain knowledge and be educated. Louis L'Amour once said “Actually, all education is self-education. A teacher is only a guide, to point out the way, and no school, no matter how excellent, can give you education. What you receive is like the outlines in a child's coloring book. You must fill in the colors yourself.”

Although many people believe that knowledge is gained through the average educational facilities, this is not always true. It is through experience, which is a form of empirical knowledge, that we actually learn and gain knowledge. “Experience is the accumulated pool of observations, associations, habits, skills, and judgments from which we draw recollections, hunches, expectations, and so on” (Dunn 53). This is the basis of everything we know. For example, we do not know that a stove is hot until we touch it, and it causes pain to our body. Through sense perception, we learn that we should not touch a hot stove, and therefore gain that knowledge. The education we receive in schools is not considered knowledge without experience. We can learn as much information as possible, but still not gain knowledge. Information can be described as experience, observations, data, and facts that have not yet been processed. (Dunn 9) With all the information we gain in school, we must apply it into the real world. Humans are an odd species that seem not to take what other people say as being true. Even if we have been told that we must not do something, we tend to rebel against society, and take actions that result in negative consequences. It is…

The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet – Aristotle. Education is the wise, hopeful and respectful development of learning undertaken in the belief that everyone should have the chance to share in life. We notice that education is a concept almost everyone would agree is a universal good, also one that is plagued by seemingly endless controversy because education is said to be a powerful opportunity that you can either build from, or destroy all at once, it’s your choice. Many claim to be educated people. But what does it mean to become an educated person? An educated person is not the one who has a high GPA or scored advanced on assessment tests. To be educated is to accept the idea that a person does not know anything until he or she opens the door to learning different aspects of life. School is not the only way of seeking knowledge; education derives from different activities like exploring other peoples’ ideas, thinking creatively, learning from one’s past mistakes, and learning skills that may help you survive and maybe succeed in life.…

Going to and completing high school and secondary school is what society considers as being an educated person. But completing schooling and knowing and understanding different things, including things like current events, is what ultimately makes an educated person smart. To say that someone is educated does not necessarily imply that the individual excels in a specific field, but rather they have a substantial amount of knowledge in a series of different areas. The word education often brings to mind the idea of schooling as a necessary means by which to become knowledgeable on specific information and to be conversant about the specific topic. Consequently, it seems that education is the counterpart to the experience in the quest for knowledge.…
