In most religions, there is a creator and ruler of the universe and source of all moral authority, more commonly known as God. The problem most people have upon the existence of God is that God has not shown God’s physical being to anyone. This also creates the problem when it comes to knowing what God is like.
Most Muslims say that we can know what God/Allah is like through scriptures and messengers (Prophets) which are able to tell us what God is like. The Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) wrote the Qur’an word per word of what Allah said to the Prophet (PBUH) so by reading the Qur’an it can be argued to be reading what Allah is saying. In addition, Muslims also have the 99 beautiful names of Allah, which also gives Muslims an idea for what Allah is like. Some of the 99 names are: Al-Rahman, the Merciful; Al-Wadud, the Loving; Al-Khaliq, the Creator, and many more. Also, the main teaching of Islam is that Allah is one (Shadah), with no mate, no parent and no children. Even though Islam has all these things to explain what Allah is like, Muslims are still nowhere near being able to fully describe or explain what Allah is truly like.
Most people whether religious or not, would say that our senses are limited so even if there is a God we cannot know what He is like. For this reason, some people would not believe in God, as they cannot describe nor see God. However, religious people who believe in God may argue that yes, we cannot describe nor see God, but we can see God indirectly, through things such as miracles.
