Watching movies like these are the same as riding a roller coaster or bungee jumping. The thrill of not knowing what could happen drives people to do these insane activities. King explains, “Which is not to say that a really excellent horror movie may not surprise a scream out of us at some point, the way we may scream when the roller coaster twists through a complete 360” (King 410). King compares a horror movie to roller coasters because these people take on the thrill of these essentially alarming activities. People do not like horror films the same as a person, not liking to ride roller coasters. The thrill is too much for some, but others dare to take it on. People enjoy feeling the adrenaline. Adrenaline can become a drug to people enjoying the fight or flight response. People acquire a sudden urge of energy. King states, “To show that we can, that we are not afraid, that we can ride this roller coaster” (King 410). The words “we can” and “not afraid” can be thoughts that people receive when they experience adrenaline. People enjoy the feeling and would like to have the feeling again. Feeling the suspense from the main character running away from the killer is the fight or flight response. Since people live in a friendly environment they do not feel the adrenaline from their society. People would go watch an alarming movie to get the feeling out of…
I can say, personally I do enjoy watching horror films. Watching horror films always have me at the edge of my seat, just anticipating for something to happen. The unexpected plots and scenes always gets my adrenaline pumping. Although, it seems very cliché with some horror films, I still always find myself screaming and yelling. Although, many of these horror movies are not real, but people still what the thrill. We all like to show that we can conquer our fear given the circumstance. A horror film can be practice for the real thing or atlas it makes us feel like we are somehow or someway prepared. We all know sick jokes. Sick jokes that we hear from the people we least expected it to come from but it's inside everyone and that's a horror movie job and it does it beautifully. It's job is to deliberately bring the little piece of darkness inside us to surface long enough to be enjoyed and then sends it back inside once the credits show at the end of the…

Horror movies bright out the demon in everyone. Normally someone would not be rooting on a person getting sawed in half with a chainsaw or getting stabbed in the back with a knife in the shower. In Steven King’s Why We Crave Horror Movies he discusses why people love horror movies so much. Of course, some people are not a fan of horror movies. Not everyone can handle the jump scares and gore, however some people can sit and watch the massacre for hours. Horror movies supply people with an adrenaline rush and a sensation of fear while bringing out the sociopath side found within everyone.…
Horror and thriller are a long standing favorite media type of our kind. A good scare that lingers in our minds sticks with us in ways other genres do not. The interest can span through movies and novels which both deliver results in different ways. Horrors and thrillers also affect our bodies while watching, though also differently. The reasons of why we like to be scared continue to be studied, but a few theories have emerged that are all partially accepted. Horrors and thrillers stimulate both our bodies and minds because they remain a mystery as to why we like them, they have helped us evolve, and they demand our attention.…
Blood, gore, death, darkness, suspense, and fear of the unusual are just a few ingredients that are stirred into making a horror film. Horror films are projected to create a psychological sense of fear; however, humans tend to enjoy and crave the heart-pumping adrenaline rush of terror. Some believe it is the calling of curiosity while others think it is the section of insanity that imbedded itself into our mind. Trepidations are not a trend that has set forth in the twenty first century; we humans hunger after the thrill of terror ever since Roman times. In addition, horror films closely relate to events like gladiators fighting at the Flavian Amphitheatre, not only because of the blood and gore, but for the audience purpose of intentionally…

Horror movies test us on our fears, desires and mentality. As from the king’s thesis, “the reason we all crave horror movies is because we are all mentally ill”. That gives a point that we need to watch horror movies just to release our tension. Some people prefer horror movies for a different reason. When looking at the movie cover of Halloween, you first feel terror. The fire, masked figure, and apparent suffering in the still images make you naturally feel uneasy. You are then drawn to the caption, Evil Has a Destiny. If you weren’t feeling uneasy already, this caption should do it. It brings up questions and makes you want to know the answer. This visual is effective in instilling a feeling of mystery, it does this through not showing the face of the figure, scrambling scenes from the movie, and giving a vague setting.…

The Gothic horror in this film is in the begging where Caleb is being watched through his computer when he wins to go to the research facility. Then, Caleb is flying over a land scape that haves to no life and is covered in snow and from there he is flown over another landscape that was like a forest and it had life. Caleb was then left in the middle of nowhere where he had to follow a river path to the building. When Caleb finally got to the building it was like a fort, or blockage area. There are no windows and just a machine speaking, then he got a key card. When Caleb enters the place there is no one around and it’s dark and there is music playing. First impression of meeting Nathan, a cool, relaxed guy, a solo party animal, who is polite to Caleb and a very intelligent man.…
