WASTE DISPOSAL SYSTEM AND MANAGEMENT
One of the most common problems that the world is facing right now is the dilemma on garbage disposal. As a result, global warming is evident in our world nowadays. Proper segregation and discarding of waste is essential to prevent environmental and health threats from happening such as floods, diseases cause by inappropriate waste disposal, etc.

Waste is a material that is no longer needed, wanted or used. It is anything unusable or is intended to be discarded. Waste management is the collection, transport, processing or disposal, managing and monitoring of waste materials. The term usually relates to materials produced by human activity, and the process is generally undertaken to reduce their effect on health, the environment or aesthetics.

Waste hierarchy is a waste management concept which refers to the 3Rs: reduce, reuse and recycle. It classifies waste management strategies according to their desirability in terms of waste minimization. The aim of the waste hierarchy is to extract the maximum practical benefits from products and to generate the minimum amount of waste. As an additional service offered by the USJ-R Main Library, the proposed Group Discussion Rooms will follow and coincide with the library’s rule, in which foods and drinks are strictly prohibited inside. In connection with this, the common wastes identified by the proponents that will be generated during the service are: 1. Papers 2. Candy wrappers 3. Pencil sharpening 4. Plastic bottles 5. Unused files

Six (6) trash bins will be available for the three (3) group discussion rooms. Each room will be provided with two (2) trash bins labeled with biodegradable and non-biodegradable. The waste will further be disposed by a private garbage collector contracted by the university.

FIRE PREVENTION
Fire in its most common form can result in conflagration, which has the potential to cause physical damage through burning. It has its positive effects in which it is used by humans for cooking, generating heat, signaling and purposes. However, the negative effect of fire includes hazard to life and property. Fire could result into an unexpected catastrophe which anyone would not want to happen especially when it occurs at the least predictable time. This is the reason behind why fire prevention is essential.

Fire prevention is intended to reduce sources of ignition. Its goal includes education to teach people how to take necessary precautions in avoiding potentially harmful fires and be knowledgeable about surviving them. It is a practical method of reducing emergencies and the damage caused by them. Education may be done and conducted in any forms. It may be through workshops, videos, pamphlets and banners. Buildings, like schools and other establishments, often conduct fire drills to inform and prepare citizens, students and employees the effects of fires, on how to react to a building fire and on how to deal with it.

Equipments to be used for the prevention of fire will be installed in the vicinity of the Group Discussion Rooms. It will consist of two (2) fire extinguishers set up in the area.
