War And Political Risk Case Study
Due to grow awareness globally in importance of asset protection and coverage to minimize losses or impacts on firms, War & Political Risk was formed. It consists of four cost centers which are Kidnap & Ransom, Political Risk, Product Recall and Trade Credit. Each of the cost centers has different coverage, exposure, business interest, task processing and etcetera depending on client base and needs. We as support team understand this situation and work closely with our London colleagues especially Underwriting Support Coordinator and Class Underwriters to ensure we are able to provide support to the underwriters while maintaining accuracy and targeted due dates.

Precise communication plays an important role for effective communication. As an Underwriting Support Assistant, we are designated to support underwriter administrative works. Therefore as an underwriter’s backbone, without time zone sharing and face to face interaction, importance of conveying correct instruction from them are needed in order to understand underwriters need and want. Video conference, email and STAR system are tools used to stay communicate with London. But this is not enough. Collaboration, coordination and mutual understanding are the biggest challenge which might lead to miscommunication, misunderstanding, rework and backlog. Therefore, to avoid tension which might leads to slow productivity, stay focus and applying positive company’s culture and value play an important role to shape a good employee. The key to success is to bring communication clear to avoid confusion especially nonnative English speakers like us. Even though, time zone created opportunity and inconvenience sometimes, but Underwriting Support Assistants have shown great effort by achieving the Standard Level Agreement (SLA) agreed by both parties. We managed to get more tasks done in a day and review the next day by the Underwriting Support Coordinator. Through this job function also, the company managed to develop a team of skilled professionals in the long run. We are very competitive and energetic, we always drive ourselves to be insurance professional. Underwriting Support Assistant are very potent and skillful. We know well company’s practice and always update our knowledge for self-improvement through reading insurance materials. Therefore, we will welcome career development offer by the company.
