Walt Disneys very famous career started off when he got his first job in Kansas City as a newspaper artist. Everyone has to start somewhere I guess! Little did Walt know that later in his life he would create a character who has one of the most known names to this day. His first job in film was at the Kansas City Film Ad Company where he created cutout animations with Ub Iwerks. This all led to where he is today with his many amusement parks, merchandise, and films. He even has his own television channels! His legacy will be remembered for a very long time.

Mickey got introduced to new friends such as Donald Duck, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, and of course his dog Pluto. The song, ‘Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?” became a theme for American during the time of The Great Depression. Disney even created the first full length animated film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which produced over one million dollars, even during the Great Depression. Disney was one of the first to use television as an opportunity for an entertainment business. Then came the amusement parks, Disneyland was the first to open in 1955 in California. Disneyland was worth a whopping 17 million dollars. He soon after branched out to different countries with the amusement parks. Walt died at the age of 65, but his business is still very much alive. Walt Disney became a man of many traits and he has changed many childrens lives for the better.
Walt Disney had been awarded an Oscar for the creation of Mickey. Surprisingly enough the cartoon character played a big role in history not only because he was the first film animation with sound effects and music but because he was used as a patriot during the second world war. He made an appearance on posters for security and war bonds. There is even rumor that his name was used as a password used by senior officers in the Allied

    Walter Elias Disney was born on December 5, 1901 in Chicago Illinois and died on December 15, 1966 in Los Angeles California. Walt’s father, Elias Disney, was an Irish-Canadian and his mother, Flora Call Disney, was German-American. Disney was born into a family of five where he was one of the four boys and one girl. While Walt was being brought up on a farm he learned his interest in drawing. After this discovery he contributed to his school paper in Chicago with his artsy talents and during the night he attended the Academy of Fine Arts. During 1918 Disney enlisted in the military but was reject so then joined the Red Cross as an ambulance driver but never gave up his interest in drawing. When he returned to Kansas City he started his career as an advertising cartoonist where his business grew little by little. On July 13, 1925 Walt married Lillian Bounds who was one of his employees. After their marriage they had two daughters, Diane and Sharron. Both of their daughter’s husbands where greatly involved with the Disney company, holding the positions of chief executive officer and a board of director.
