If this major issue is putting our planet at stake… what are we doing about it? I’ll tell you, but the answer might be shocking… absolutely nothing!! Wall-E is looking into our planet’s destiny and by the looks of it… it doesn’t look too bright. Our film study on Wall-E highlights the impact today has on tomorrow. In Wall-E, humans can no longer live on earth and must live on a spaceship, otherwise known as the axiom, because planet earth can no longer support life! Seeing that we shape the future, we are the one’s to be blamed for the depiction shown in Wall-E. Is this what we want our generation to be remembered for? …show more content…
As a main theme in the film, pollution is shown frequently to highlight the film’s purpose, that pollution can be avoided, it can be stopped, we need to respect our environment today, to ensure a better tomorrow.
Evo Morales, the current Bolivian president said the following: “Sooner or later, we will have to recognise that the Earth has rights, too, to live without pollution. What mankind must know is that human beings cannot live without Mother Earth, but the planet can live without humans.” This quote is an excellent representation of what is shown in Wall-E. Pollution, in the world of Wall-E, drove out the humans, leaving a depleted
planet.
In the opening scene, we are introduced to a world full of trash. No matter where you turn there is rubbish. And when you think about it, our world is pretty similar to theirs. We are not far from the world of Wall-E, in fact, as former vice president of the United States once said “Today we're dumping 70 million tons of global-warming pollution into the environment, and tomorrow we will dump more, and there is no effective worldwide response. Until we start sharply reducing global-warming pollution, I will feel that I have failed.” And in fact, we have failed! Not only have we failed our environment, we’ve failed ourselves, our children and the future generations yet to walk this earth.
How can we stop this, and make way for a brighter future? This isn’t an impossible task. You may think that you have no relevance in this matter, but in reality, YOU are part of the change… the change that transforms our world! You can contribute to the abolition of pollution by recycling when necessary, use environmentally safe products or it can be as easy as turning off lights when not in use.
Today’s plastic bottle is tomorrow's pile of pile of rubbish!
