ABSTRACT

Pantaloons Retail Limited is India’s leading retailer that operates multiple retail formats in both the value and lifestyle segment of the Indian consumer maker. Pantaloons include a chain of fashion outlets that is Big Bazaar, a uniquely Indian hypermarket chain, Food Bazaar, a supermarket chain, blends the look, touch and feel of Indian bazaars with aspects of modern retail like choice, convenience and quality.
The research project deals about the waiting line management at retail outlets like Big Bazaar. It basically stresses on the problems faced by the organizations in managing the waiting lines throughout the day, especially at the peak hours and festival season.
The scope of my project involves understanding the concept of waiting lines and find out better ways to manage them. It aims at studying the various techniques adopted for managing waiting lines at retail stores like Big Bazaar and see whether it is effective enough to serve the number of footfalls.
The deliverable on the completion of my project will serves as input for the subsequent phases and will give a better understanding of waiting line management and its implementation.
