This article was called “A Profession of Choice” by Kathy Oxtoby. In this article, she talks about wanting to promote nursing as a career option that offer a promising future for young people with high aspirations. She states, “Nursing is still seen as women’s work and being about basic care. Nursing is also still seen as poorly paid and hard work … believes that some school careers services have failed to promote nursing, pushing those who are interested in health care towards medicine. (61)” I agree that Nursing is still seen as a women’s work. I think that people can help increase more upcoming nurses, we have to get the men involve. According, to Nursing Statistics on Minority Nurse webpage, only 9.1% of RN are men. This is a very low percent. The people and teacher should try to promote men into this career. This attributes that if we could persuasive more men into this career, it could help decreases the shortage of nurses in the future. The next argument that I want to make is about being paid poorly. As a person who work in an Assistant Living and Independent Living facilities, I get paid more than any other facilities. I’m not sure if it is the policies of each facilities to be paid at different rate, but I believe that everyone should be pay at the same rate and on the same job …show more content…
