Wag The Dog
Wag the Dog Response
The movie Wag the Dog was very interesting and immediately led my mind to wonder about the actions of politicians today. In Wag the Dog I liked how from Motss perspective he was not going through with a scam, however he was simply doing what he loved most, producing a movie. While I do believe those events do take place today, I am almost certain they are not to that effect. The media is a huge distraction to people of all age groups. Media is a business in itself, in my opinion the purpose of media has shifted from simply entertainment to the way we think and what is believed to be ethical. Majority of the time I believe the media comes up with a new story or event to shift the attention of citizens or provide other information in which favors a certain side. I believe this is all in effort to get people to focus on a primary issue, topic, or idea, instead of a major occurrence in the political world. In the film numerous people went through many lengths to ensure the image of the president was of good standing. I think the press are manipulated by politicians more often than we think. Everyday there is something new happening involving people of a higher officer and it is a priority to be sure the American citizens do not find out. If they do not go through with scams, such as in the movie then everything would fall apart. Information that they want people to know is all that gets leaked. While what is important and the true issue at hand gets brushed under the rug and forgotten about. I personally do believe politicians partake in scams very frequently, because they are very aware of the repercussions that may occur once individuals become aware of certain information.

Texts frequently portray conflicting perspectives of personalities, events and situations in order to influence the response of the reader. These perspectives are shown through a variety of techniques, and the composer invariably favors one perspective over the other in order to represent their underlying message or purpose within a text. Wag the Dog, a political satire, directed by Barry Levinson, is one such text. Levinson portrays conflicting perspectives of the character of the President throughout the film, ultimately influencing the audience into questioning the morality of their own leaders. Similarly, the documentary, Bowling for Columbine composed by Michael Moore explores conflicting perspective of CHARACTER in order to REPRESENTATION PURPOSE. Another issue explored in Wag the Dog is the Albanian war. Levinson utilizes conflicting perspectives of this situation in order to suggest that the power to manipulate a country stem from the media rather than from the government. This is mirrored by ISSUE/SITUATION/EVENT as it is portrayed in Bowling for Columbine in order to PURPOSE. Thus, it is clear that the representation process of texts influences responses to those texts.…

The media can make or break a speaker. If a speaker or politician is surrounded by followers, the media will show him or her to be a popular, civic person. If the speaker is controversial, regardless of the truth, he or she will be blasted by the media in one way or another. The media is where the general population gets the majority of its information, so it goes without saying that the media has large influence.…

Write a short essay in which you show how the belief in destiny influences the thoughts and actions of the characters. Provide several other examples from Beowulf to support your position.I think Grendel would go back to Herot and want revenge. He would want to kill Beowulf for trying to kill him. Grendel would not like the fact the someone tried to stop him because he had been going to the hall for 12 years and no one could stop him.He would want to kill more Danes. Grendel is a monster and he expects people to be afraid of him and he wouldnt like it that Beowulf isn's scared. The best answer choice is B, becuase he drove alot of pain and suffering away when he had his battle with Grendel, because then the people didnt have to deal with Grendel going to the hall and killing people. When Grendel fights Beowulf, the reader learns that the monster’s “time had come,” and he will soon die. It is quite known that several different news outlets cover up information, as they believe it is too much for the public to handle. This type of information could vary from scandals, to events, to celebrities, and even people with authority. When this happens, the public begins to question the motives behinds the news, and whether or not they have been bribed. So, for the news to become more trustworthy, they must be more truthful, and open about what they choose to hide. According to an article by Jean Duffey called “The Media’s Role in Federal Government Cover-ups” Duffey may claim that the government control the media’s every move. However, when it comes to dealing with things non-related to the government, is when the media has the right to cover news their way. To Clarify, the media doesn’t have to be truthful about everything, only a majority of…

Overall, the media is a smart but sly business. They can easily influence us in bad ways, just like in Animal Farm, when Squealer lied to the animals many times for the pigs to have their way. From exaggerating stories to creating propaganda to covering up stories, the media can really control us without us realizing. Although it may be helpful sometimes, we need to be cautious of what we are…

Oprah Winfrey, who has her own media company, helped Obama greatly by giving him money to campain with. The media controls…

Although the movie Wag the Dog is a comedy about a completly fake war, written and produced by a top Hollywood producer and a presidential Mr. Fix-It in order to take the focus off of a presidential sex scandel 11 days before the election, it does have a serious message to impart - Don't believe everything you see on TV. Sure, parents tell their kids that the man on TV isn't really dead, it's all fake, and we all know that movies and sitcoms and dramas aren't real, they're written and acted. But we believe the shows not labelled fiction. We watch documentries and biographies and absorb the information as the truth. When we watch the news at 6:00 pm every evening, and read the paper over coffee and breakfast, we believe everything reported. And why shouldn't we? Isn't it our right to know what's going on in the world and to not have the struggle of trying to separate fact from fiction? Unfortuantly, we may think this is our right, but we do have to take a more critical look at the information departed from the media.…
