Analysis and discussion on the financial statements of Vodafone NZ Ltd and
Telecom NZ Ltd from 2008 to 2012

Executive Summary

The purpose of this report was to analyse and discuss the financial statements of Vodafone NZ Ltd and Telecom NZ Ltd from 2008 to 2012. Specific objectives were to identify key factors for the increase and decrease in profit and offer recommendations for both companies for the future.
Recommendations discussed include both companies working on customer relations, continuing investing and improving their products and services and winning back some market share that was lost to 2 Degrees.

1. Introduction
This report was requested by Renuka Narayan (due for submission 22nd May 2013) and covers the analysis and discussion on the financial statements of Vodafone NZ Ltd and Telecom NZ Ltd from 2008 to 2012. Specific objectives were to identify key factors for the increase and decrease in profit and offer recommendations for both companies for the future.
Research for this report included internet searches and obtaining the financial statements from 2008 to 2012 directly from Vodafone NZ Ltd and Telecom NZ Ltd.
All financial statements can be found in the appendices.
Analysis of the financial statements revealed that both companies were making a profit although, on average, Telecom made the larger profit but their profits fluctuated from year to year while Vodafone made the lower profit but profit amounts appeared to be more constant.
The report finds that both companies are making a more than sufficient profit.
Recommendations discussed include both companies working on customer relations, continuing investing and improving their products and services and winning back some market share that was lost to 2 Degrees.
Limitations for this report were not being able to find relevant information on the internet, Vodafone’s annual reports lacking in
