Visit To The Timken Museum Of Art
During a breezy Sunday afternoon, I decided to visit the Timken Museum of Art located in Balboa Park. I chose the Timken specifically after reading about it online, and knowing that it had a variety of different paintings ranging from European paintings to American and Russian paintings.
After going in to the museum, I took a walk and viewed the entire collection of artwork displayed, as suggested in the video “How to Visit an Art Museum”. While doing so, I noted down the works of art that impressed me from the first glance. After I was done browsing the collection, I went back to the paintings that interested me and looked through them again; I then knew which one I liked best. It is called The Piazzetta at Venice by Lucas Carlevarijs. What

    The Mint Museum in Charlotte, NC is a timeless building and a work of art itself. The building was designed with a contemporary style and is an outward expression of its artistic, belongings inside. I visited the Museum on Tuesday, July 02, 2013, at around 2 in the afternoon. I was within the museum for about 2 ½ hours, observing the exhibits. The building itself exceeded my expectations, but the inside took my breath away. Every detail within was elaborate and intended with thought; from the glass windows, to the straight lines of the architecture, to the overlooked design of the staircases. The museum was not extremely busy. The museum was occupied with an adequate amount of people, creating a comfortable, quiet, atmosphere to enjoy the art. I was able to enter the museum without feeling bombarded, compared to most popular attractions. The displays were prearranged for pleasant viewing, easy to maneuver around, and located suitably by collection and design. The ambiance and setting was much more peaceful than I expected. I particularly enjoyed the visit to the Mint Museum and am now encouraged to visit other art museums!…

    While I was in the museum, I spent most of my time looking at paintings and I found the painting of Saint Gertrude by Miguel Cabrera to be quite beautiful. Painted in 1803, Saint Gertrude’s face appears quite serene to the viewer and has religious appeal as well to those who are Christian or Catholic. The serene expression on her face makes her appear very beautiful in a motherly way in my eyes.
