In the early days, education was available to those who were rich. Quite a large number of people did not have the opportunity to learn. People learned in schools, colleges and universities. Because of the advancement of the communication era anyone can learn anywhere anyplace anytime.


Learning is one of the most valuable skills that humans have, which is a continuous process. Centuries ago people learned inside the walls of class rooms, buildings but in the 21st century the way we learn or the environment we study are changing to VLE’s or e-learning. Today people are using digital platforms and modern ways to improve their learning. “A virtual learning environment (VLE) is a set of teaching and learning tools designed to enhance a student's learning experience by including computers and the Internet in the learning process” (virtual-learning-environment-VLE-or-managed-learning-environment-MLE, 2011). Some of the benefits of virtual learning environment are; the flexibility in studying while working, course materials can be accessed anytime, convenience of studying at home, VLE’s are quicker to complete, is cheaper than studying in another country etc. Virtual learning has helped people immensely in many ways. First, the learning environment is flexible where anyone can do their studying on their free time. For example, a full time mother who takes care of her siblings and while taking other responsibilities cannot attend to classes or lectures because of the tight schedule. It will be extremely difficult to be present to a particular place at a particular time. It is also beneficial to others who are working in full time jobs. They can get their degree while earning their money. This is one of the key benefits of VLE’s that is available whenever we want.
