Children addicted to violent online games
Today, a lot of children are suffering from addiction to violent online games. Children spent 40 to 50 hours a week in playing online games. Children isolate themselves from people, they prefer to stay at home; sit down, face the computer and play online games for long hours. They even forget to eat, take a bath and communicate with their families and friends.
Research study says that children who are addicted to violent online games become violent to people when they grow up. This incorporates the preliminary findings of a meta-analysis of controlled trials of psychosocial interventions with that population. Overall, it is concluded that there is sufficient evidence currently available to substantiate the claim that personal violence can be reduced by psychosocial interventions, but that much more research is required to delineate the parameters of effectiveness in this context. Proposals are made for future investigations with reference to the theoretical understanding of causal relationships and the design of experimental trials.
The principal objectives of this paper are to survey research on the outcomes of interventions designed to reduce personal violence and to summarize what has emerged from that work with a view to identifying the most effective approaches to the problem that have been discovered to date. The emphasis will be primarily on aggression and violent behaviour among adolescents and adults, and although work with younger children will be discussed it is not the central focus of this paper.
To facilitate the principal task, three initial but subsidiary objectives will be briefly addressed. They are as follows: first, to consider some issues that arise in defining violence, in order to obtain a clearer appraisal of the subject under discussion; second, to survey the nature of personal violence as a social and public health problem; and third, to discuss some difficulties that arise when conducting research in this area, with particular reference to the evaluation of interventions. A fourth objective, addressed later in this paper, is to forward an integrative perspective on the factors that influence the occurrence of violence acts, in a probabilistic causal model.
There is a useful distinction that is often made in studying interventions designed to reduce recurrent problem behaviours such as criminal conduct in general or violent offending, in particular. This is a classification forwarded by Guerra et al. (1994) between primary, secondary and tertiary preventions of antisocial activity in adolescence.

    In the United States video games and violence have become synonymous to each other. Some of the most popular games today tend to be the most violent. This has brought up the issue of video game violence and its relation to adolescent violence. Many argue that video game violence primes anger and aggressive thoughts in the individual using them. But research and proof of this argument has been limited, inconclusive, or contradictory which has brought up debate over the issue. Two scholarly research articles, “Video Games and aggressive thoughts, feelings, and behavior in the laboratory and in life.” by Craig A Anderson and Karen E Dill and “Video Games and Youth Violence: A Prospective Analysis in Adolescents” by Christopher J Ferguson, published in 2000 and 2010 respectively, debate this topic and discuss the psychological effects of violent video games on the user. The article by Anderson and Dill asserted that video game exposure increased aggressive traits long-term and short-term while the research article by Ferguson made the claim that outside conditions and factors such as personality traits, family environment, and depressive symptoms far better indicated increased aggression or youth violence than violent video game play. Both articles conducted their own studies in attempts to measure the correlation between video game violence and aggression level. However, Ferguson’s article had a more complete argument, accounting for more outside third variables, expanding upon data from previous conducted studies, and counter-arguing opposing studies and evidence against video game violence. Overall Ferguson’s article provided a stronger argument against video games causing violence and aggression, drawing upon more references and evidence, counter-attacking and pointing out flaws of previous research conducted, and analyzing numerous other factors.…
